| August 12, 2007 To All Volunteers for the 2007 AAC Nationals: First things first: Thank you so much for volunteering for this year’s National Championship event! The Nationals would not be possible without your help and support. On behalf of the organizing committee and all the competitors, a heartfelt THANK YOU! Your contributions are SO APPRECIATED! Regarding the schedule: Please take a few moments to go over your schedule carefully. Great care has been taken to avoid conflicts and accommodate your preferences and requests. Please notify us immediately if there is anything in your schedule that is impossible for you to do. Please consider this schedule as final. If your schedule looks kind of heavy, please note that except for a few key positions (e.g., ring leader, timer/scribe, gate steward), you can get a volunteer support person to take over for you any time you need a break. Just let the ring leader know and s/he will radio for a substitute. Please note that all times are approximate as it is difficult to determine exactly how long each round of competition will take. Any major schedule changes will be posted and announced. Please also note that ALL TIMES ASSOCIATED WITH RINGS ARE FIRST DOG ON THE LINE SO PLEASE ARRIVE AT YOUR RING AT LEAST 10 MINUTES PRIOR. FINAL VOLUNTEER SCHEDULES What to bring: Hopefully it will be warm and sunny, but just in case, please be prepared for all kinds of weather, including rain, cold, sun, heat, wind, etc. It is a good idea to dress in layers and to bring at least one extra change of clothes. Please bring sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes and rain gear! You may want to bring a little cash. There will be many vendor stalls with cool items available for purchase as well as a raffle with great prizes. Morning coffee, water, lunch, snacks and goodies will be provided to volunteers free of charge. You will receive your lunch tickets from the volunteer coordinator. If you need to bring your dog(s), please bring secure crating and whatever else s/he needs to be comfortable throughout the day. Indoor crating is available. Only competing dogs will be allowed ringside, but there will be many other places for you to walk your dog. Please be sure to pick up after your dog. Directions: Halton Place is located just north of Milton at #9328 Regional Road 15 east of Highway 25. Please refer to the Venue page of the Nationals website for detailed directions (http://www.aacnationals.ca/venue.html). When you arrive: Please follow the signs to parking areas and volunteer check in. You will receive a welcome package that will include a volunteer t-shirt, name tags and various other things. Please change into your t-shirt and please wear your name tag. Areas for dog crating will be clearly marked. Volunteer Job Descriptions: Job descriptions and timer instructions are posted to the right of this page. Please take a few minutes to review these prior to Nationals. If you would like a copy emailed directly to you, please let us know. Volunteer Prizes: Special raffles for volunteers will take place throughout the weekend. More details will be available during the event. A Note about Competitors and their Dogs: Please be aware that this is a major event as our National Championships. Competitors are under some stress and will want to have time and space to themselves. Please be understanding and avoid distracting competitors and their dogs when they are ringside. During the breaks and after the runs are over, you will likely find that most competitors are delighted to show off their dogs and chat. Contacting us after Wednesday, August 15th Messages can be left for Andrea Ferguson Jones at the Sheridan College Residence & Conference Centre (905) 874-4393.
