Nepean National Equestrian Park
The 2009 Agility Association of Canada (AAC) Ontario Regional Championships will be held at the Nepean National Equestrian Park (NNEP) between May 29 and May 31, 2009.
Located just minutes West of downtown Ottawa and easily accessible from Highway 417, the NNEP, a City of Ottawa owned facility in operation since 1974, is located on 270 acres in Ottawa’s greenbelt. In addition to the ten acre equestrian centre, the remaining 260 acres are used for haying (approximately 10,000 bales annually), grazing and providing a venue for exposure to rural activities and farm life.
The Nepean National Equestrian Park Special Event Site includes three grass rings, three sand rings and ample parking for any event. The 2009 AAC Ontario Regional Championships will utilise six fully fenced competition rings, located in the well maintained grass Grand Prix (Gamblers and Jumpers/Steeplechase) and Hunter (Standard) rings. Also provided will be a fully secure, tented, competitor crating area, an off-leash area, a watering station, canine and human healthcare providers and a wide variety of vendors all located close to the competition rings.
A unique and multifaceted recreation facility, the NNEP provides a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy both recreational and competitive pursuits. This is certain to ensure that the 2009 AAC Ontario Regional Championships are successful and enjoyable for all involved.
Directions:
- From the West (Highways 7 or 17): Take Highway 417 East, exit on March Road North. Take the first road on your right, Corkstown Road. The exit is just after you go over the 417. If you miss it, simply proceed to the next set of lights and make a U-turn.
- From the East (Highways 174 or 417): Take Highway 417 West, exit on Moodie Drive North, and turn left on Corkstown Road, the first set of lights, so you will need to cross 3 lanes in a short span. If you miss it, simply proceed to the next set of lights and make a U-turn.
- From the South via 416 (from Highway 401 to Ottawa, Ogdensburg, USA bridge at Prescott). Keep right in the lanes going to downtown Ottawa. Keep right and take the first exit to Holly Acres Rd/Richmond Rd, follow signs to Moodie. At the lights at the end of the exit, keep left and turn on the Holly Acres Rd. Keep left, go under the 417 and turn left onto the 417 west bound. Get on the 417 keeping in the right lane and exit at Moodie Drive. Go right (north) and turn left at the first set of lights from Moodie onto Corkstown Rd (west). The Equestrian center is on you right side, follow the signs to the site.
or a simpler version to above reading signs:
- From the 416 entering Ottawa, follow the signs to Moodie Drive (via Holly Acres RD and the 417). Follow the "from East" directions.
* Note mapquest directions are outdated coming from the south so please use directions set out above. You cannot exit on Moodie Drive despite what Mapquest says :-)
As you reach the top of the hill on Corkstown Road you will see the Ottawa Campground. The next gate you will come to is the Nepean National Equestrian Park main gate, which is for spectators only. The competitor and volunteer entrance will be the second gate on the left and will be clearly signed for you. Please have your competitor confirmation ready as you will be receiving your access passes right at the entrance.
