It all started with "cut and paste". I'm inspired by many things these days: the mountains ( I am living in Calgary), small & old objects, and other things that I deem to have a certain value. Yes, describing that value can be a bit difficult, but I think it is something that has a story or history- a hidden message.
Currently I am painting more now than I ever have. Stormy skies seems to be the theme of this moment in my artwork, perspective is also playing a role.
I graduated with a BFA from the Ontario College of Art and Design, and am currently making "new works". My artwork has been in several group exhibitions, galleries, and international print exchanges traveling worldwide. A continuous goal is having my own gallery: a collaboration of art and music with my husband Paul.
"Memory intertwines with my artwork in many aspects. Most memories that are used for my current work are drawn from childhood. It can be difficult at times to remember what happened in the past, although at that time, it was important. Using this as an integral part of my process, some images (eg. landscapes, flowers-) as well as events become idealized in form. I am captivated by the communication possible through a narrative of personal reclaimed images and symbols. Although the narrative in my artwork doesn't have to be logical, it is important that I see a connection with the images."
