Q: How does my website come up #1?

 

A. There are many ways to get traffic into your site.  However, there is little chance of always be #1 on every search engine or always coming up at the top of a search because of the large variety of ways a potential customer could be pursuing their search for you.  In order to come close to this goal you would spend a lot of money in advertising expenses.

1. Pay Per Click Advertising...BUT you need to be very careful as I have seen clients spend thousands of dollars and have no return of actual customers.  The reason? People like you and I can take jobs as "Ad reviewers".  They couldn't care less about your business, they are just clicking for pay and in the end, it's your bill.
2. Advertise, Advertise, Advertise.  Use your local online resources (I will do this for you).  Post TONS of online ads, press releases, emails, etc.  Submit your site EVERYWHERE and force the public to see you.

B. You can do things to improve ratings.

1. Keywords.  Make sure you list all keywords you might use to search for your own product or service if you were the customer. 

2. Have a direct and non forwarded address, as they come up better in the engines.

3. List yourself in all Indexes and Catalog Directories (i.e. Kudzu.com, Citysearch.com)  Most of these can be done for free.  You can upgrade the ad for a fee to come up preferred but the initial listings are generally free. We provide this service, please see SEO Rates

4. Look into direct marketing (P.S. I know a great guy!)  and get some leads in the demographic you are trying to target.
