Why is the 1992 PDX UFO incident being brought up now after all these years?

It all started in late September 2005 when my husband, Chris, bought a PC Tuner card for his PC. This in turn allowed me to convert all my VHS Family video tapes that I have done over the years (some dating back to 1990) and get them converted over to other media as VHS tapes will degrade over time.

 

While I was getting all my VHS Family tapes converted over to my PC and on to DVD, I found my 1992 UFO VHS tape that I had video taped. It has been safely tucked away and out of sight all these years.

 

In October 2005, I finally got a chance to review the 1992 PDX UFO video on my PC. Watching this video frame-by-frame as well as retrieving various "still-shot" images started to bother me all over again.  (See a few "still shot" images from the video  HERE ) The more I looked at this,  the more frustrated I became -  just as I was in 1992.

 

I lost the MUFON report that I had submitted back in 1992. This 4 page report was sent along with my VHS TAPE in August of 1992 to MUFON for investigation and analysis.  I contacted a MUFON Rep. about this in November 2005,  requesting a copy of my report that I had filed with them. FINALLY I received the 6 page report in December 2005 from the MUFON Rep.  Reading this report over again, brought back the frustrations I had with MUFON back in 1992 and is partly why I tried to put aside the entire incident.  NO WONDER I had tossed out this report!

 

What took place in 1992 after I video taped this strange light in the sky...

 

Back in July of 1992, I had NO idea who to report this incident to. We wanted to contact the police but it was not harming anyone (besides it was a non-emergency, and they might not have showed up for HOURS) . I did try to call our local TV station - Channel 12 - but they apparently blew it off (see MUFON Report page 4 - links shown at bottom of this page)

 

At the time, I did not have internet access and being a single mom I had no time for dealing with UFO's.  However, I was asked by a co-worker who viewed this video to have this investigated - to at least find out what this was. So about a month later, I contacted the Air National Guard explaining what I had video taped and inquired if they had anything in our area at the time. They told me no- not theirs- and suggested that I call MUFON.  I contacted MUFON by phone the same day.

 

I took the time to fill out MUFON's 2 page form letter that was mailed to me. In addition to this,  I also supplied a typed detailed 2 page write up that was submitted along with their forms. My" 4 page Witness Testimony Report " was also supplied with the VHS Tape of the UFO I had video taped.  A MUFON Rep. came to my house in August of 1992 to pick all this up. He reviewed the video tape with me, read my 4 page report,  as well as heard what I had to say and took all this with him for their analysis.

 

About a month or so later in 1992, I received a VERY disappointing letter back from MUFON. I was frustrated and very upset with what was written up by MUFON and I did not know what else to do. Doug, who you also hear on the video that also saw this with me, told me to just forget MUFON period!  He was also disappointed that  MUFON did not take the time to interview him as well as 7 other people that witnessed this incident.

 

So I never reported it to anyone else and  just kept the 1992 UFO VHS Tape safely tucked away until recently.....

 

Reviewing  the MUFON Report again in December 2005

 

Reading over this MUFON Video Analysis report again in December 2005,  I NOW see that Mr Sainio did NOT get my 4 page witness testimony! Apparently he REVIEWED ONLY the video tape that was supplied to him! (Someone dropped the ball on this!) 

ALSO, on page 2 of this report (see Page Two  here) , there is the "weather conditions" box filled out by MUFON for the night of this incident. This reports that the WIND DIRECTION came FROM the SW at 15 MPH!  The Cloud-ceiling was at 2-3,000 FT, with sparse breaks in clouds.

This object was first seen at the park and came FROM THE NE and headed in a South to SE direction. In other words, this object was going AGAINST the 15 mph SW winds that night.

It is regrettable that I did not pursue this further with MUFON back in 1992 when I first received their "video analysis" report. I was just so confused and hurt with the report I received. And I did not realize that Mr. Sainio had NOT read my 4 page report  that was submitted with my video.

 

Maybe MUFON did not take my report seriously because it was on July 4th? If this is true, that is a shame.  UFO's can surely show up on an American holiday as well as any other day.

Or were they offended by my "cussing" on the video? I am ashamed about my cussing as well - but shoot! We were very scared that night!  This OBJECT was in our AREA for well over 25 minutes if not longer! I was also very frustrated when I would loose sight of the object in the camera lens of my very heavy VHS camcorder. 

 

It's really too late to care about this 1992 incident now. And I still believe that MUFON is a reputable place to report to. (Back in 1992 they were the only ones to report to)  But I can't help but wonder if other reports like mine are out there that have also been "mishandled" by various agencies around the world as well.

 

- This was NOT a planet or a star.  - There were no visible stars or moon that night due to the cloud cover.

 

- This was NOT a  firework or flare.   - It was in our area WELL OVER 25 minutes. It moved with intelligence, it lowered, and hovered over us at the park and did not move for a few minutes before it FINALLY moved back up and headed south of us (see Area Map here) THIS OBJECT was going AGAINST the SW 15 MPH winds which rules out blimps or balloons. AND Mr.Sainio's report basically rules out flares or fireworks even without having read my 4 page witness testimony. (See MUFON Video Analysis Report here)

 

What ever it was scared the hell out of at least 9 witnesses and WE still remember it very well to this day.
