Our beloved son Cameron, was "finally & officially" diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
by the twins pediatrician, on August 13, 2007, shortly after the twins turned 4 years old.
*1 in 150 children are born with Autism
*BOYS are diagnosed with Autism 4X more often than girls.
*A new case is diagnosed nearly EVERY 20 minutes!
*More children will be diagnosed with Autism THIS YEAR than AIDS, Diabetes, and Cancer COMBINED

APRIL IS AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH
ASO Boost Autism Awareness Month with Annual Walk-a-thon
The Center for Disease Control reports that 1 in 150 people have autism. Given this increased rate, autism will soon become the most common disability in the United States. Oregon has the highest rates of autistic diagnoses in the United States. In 2006, the Oregon Department of Education reported 1 in 98 students are on the autism spectrum.
The Autism Society of Oregon (ASO) is sponsoring the 6 th annual Autism Walk-a-thon Sunday April 13, 2008 at Oaks Park in Southeast Portland. Oaks Park is located at 7805 SE Oaks Park Way on the East end of the Sellwood Bridge. The registration desk opens at 9:30 a.m., the walk begins at 10:30 a.m. and the event concludes at noon. The cost is $12 per person, which includes the event tee shirt. On-line registration and pledge forms are available at www.autismwalkathon.com. The expected attendance is approximately 800 walkers with many children with autism
