On March 11 2008, after reading a few articles (found below), and looking over our Twin boys (Andrew & Cameron) vaccine records - the timing of ALL these shots given to them by the time they reached 4 years old - I am beating myself up for it.

Not only are these articles of importance, but I realize just how gullible I was to trust our pediatrician. I just went along with the flow, without questioning anything or causing waves. BUT also thinking I couldn't do anything about it or our twins would not be allowed to attend school.

After all, nothing went amiss when I went through all this with my daughter 20 years ago - But MUCH has changed since then!

After reading many things now (and the three articles below) I realize that I DID HAVE THE RIGHT to question my doctor on the number of shots given at one time to our twin boys. That I should have been informed by the pediatrician that WE DO HAVE THE RIGHT to choose to SPREAD OUT the vaccines and should NOT get chastised for it. (like I was recently by a Dr for not giving the twins the Flu Vaccine! ) How could I have just blindly trusted the Pediatrician?! Why didn't the Pediatrician suggest other options?!

After the pediatrician observed the twins on Aug 13 2007, (shortly after they turned 4 years old) her exact words to us about Cameron on this day were: " Cameron has characteristics of Autism... Oh! But not full blown Autism "
Then she rushes out to put the referrals together for us.. while we sat alone in the office with the twins.. numb.

The pediatrician then has the NURSE come back with a slue of referrals for Cameron to have: Occupational Therapy, Speech, and Physical therapies (of which many are barely covered or NOT covered at all under our insurance plan with Kaiser) She also highly recommended we get in touch with Early Intervention (EI)
Then the nurse proceeds to administer the twins ALL 5 shots on this very same day of Cameron's diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder!!!

What a day August 13 2007 was. A DAY WE WILL NEVER FORGET FOR AS LONG AS WE LIVE!
This was also the same day that the twins appointment was 50 minutes LATE! I am NOT kidding!. And by the time we got all this news blurted to us, vaccines given to the twins, then we were rushed out the door as they were turning off the lights - it was that late in the day!

Here is one example I would like to point out: The shots given to the twins on August 13 2007 COULD HAVE BEEN SPREAD OUT!  We realized this AFTER they were given all these shots on the very same day of Cameron's ASD Diagnosis, that they could have spread them out and given the vaccines FROM AGES 4 YEARS TO 6 YEARS OLD.  NOT ALL AT ONCE right after they turned 4 years old!

And they can shove it where the sun doesn't shine with their Mercury tainted FLU VACCINE, because we'll have nothing to do with it! Throw me in jail, but I am NOT holding my sons down to receive this shot!

Note on Early Intervention: It took 2 months for Early Intervention approval.
The twins started attending on Oct 30 2007 and get ONLY 6 HOURS A WEEK.
As of March 11 2008 Cameron has had a total of only 48 hours in Early Intervention.
(This is partly due to no school days when teachers went on strike, school breaks, and due to being sick a few times)
Oh well, beggars can't be choosers right? *sigh*

My son Cameron is now diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He was NOT born with this. He developed this gradually over time. Around 34 months old, odd behaviour started to occur and became more frequent.
I can not PROVE that the huge amount of vaccines he received in the short amount of time caused this. (but it sure as heck makes you wonder!)
HOWEVER, at least I can tell others out there to know that the vaccines given to your children CAN BE SPREAD OUT. No matter what they say, or in our case what they DON'T say.

Another thing has occurred to me: Our twin boys were born 4 WEEKS EARLY, via C-section on July 31 2003.
In the beginning of the first 12 months of their lives while making several visits to the doctor, the pediatrician kept saying that certain things might come a bit slower to them (breast feeding, sitting, crawling etc) because they were born premature.

Well if that is all true, then why did she give ALL THOSE SHOTS to the twins on 09/25/2003?  Firstly, they were not even 2 months old yet, and secondly, if their "development" could be behind due to being born 4 WEEKS EARLY, then why did she allow those shots to begin with?!
It's a good thing that when Andrew developed Pyloric Stenosis (August 31 2003) at 4 weeks old -- they were not vaccinated with anything YET at that time.
It just all boggles my mind! How the pediatrician claimed that because they were born 4 weeks early, that they were actually a month behind but then turns around and proceeds to do all those shots on THEIR vaccine schedule!  Does this make any sense?!
(yes, again I am kicking myself)

On Jan 15 2008, the Pediatrician referred Cameron for Development Assessment Clinic at Kaiser (DAC) They called us and the appointment for Cameron is set for April 3 2008! Unbelievable! Either they don't give a flying hoot, OR they are really that booked up (hmmmm I wonder why?!!!)

Right now, I just hope to get Cameron to stop "TOE WALKING". I want to avoid the possible surgeries and castings that can result from toe walking. I've tried everything! We're hoping DAC will help in this area.
Not to judge or anything, but I DON'T want my son to end up like John Travolta's son...

Any way this is my rant for the day (as well as to scold myself)... and if you know anyone with a NEWBORN you might suggest that they HAVE THOSE VACCINES SPREAD OUT to be on the safe side! 'Tis far better SAFE than to be sorry later!

Currently the NATIONAL average for the USA is now at 1 in 150 with Autism per CDC.
In Oregon it is 1 in 88!
