| "... A story is a way to say something that can't be said any other way, and takes every word in the story to say what that means is. You tell a story, because a statement of would-be inadequate." Flannery O'Connor The functions of Public Art and Civic Design should be to educate through inspiration. I endeavor to do this through a combination of left-brain and right-brain sensibilities. I approach each project with a whimsical practicality. The Bedtime Stories Collection plaques are a way to celebrate the story form as visual artifice and as evidence of the written word as a thing of beauty. What better way to achieve this then to bring these plaques to living workspaces in such a way that's unobtrusive and beautiful. "Malcolm Rand and Ricky Ricks Chase the Dismal Doom Away" Using quirky fonts suggestive of the narrative voice, as well as a design element, lift the block print from the mundane to the extraordinary. Whether etched on nickel silver, brass, or copper these enduring materials are reminiscent of Moses 10 Commandments carved in stone. The Bedtime Stories are set in a much too often hostile and unsympathetic world these stories can help quiet the soul and remind us of the quiet soft voice of childhood. I offer to you, the Bedtime Stories Collection. A collection of children's short stories etched on nickel silver, brass or copper with an antique finish. These plaques are available in two sizes 11" x 17" (shown on the slides) and 22" x 34". It is my hope that you'll cherish and appreciate these gems as much as I do! |
