About the Artist
Cindy Crichton-Kelly has been drawing and painting since childhood but has only taken her art seriously in the last few years. Born in North Queensland, and spending most her life alternating between beach and rural surroundings, her work is a reflection of her own direct experiences. In her paintings she strives to depict images of everyday life which ultimately establishes a connection with the viewer. She measures the success of each piece by its ability to speak for itself.
Being an avid photographer, Cindy uses her own reference material to develop ideas for paintings, but also works from life. She has a traditional approach to subject matter and enjoys using impressionist techniques, as well as experimenting occasionally in a tighter, more realist style.
Cindy has worked with many mediums, preferring soft pastels, oil pastels, acrylics and oil paints. She feels each medium lends a unique and different quality to a subject which can extend the creative possibilities.
A selection of Cindy Crichton-Kelly's soft pastel paintings can be seen at Unique Frames gallery, Mission Beach, and the Tully Vet Surgery, Tully, North Queensland.
