Take as many pictures as possible ensuring there is plenty of side lighting, for example in the shade of a tree, but not in direct sunlight. A bright overcast day is the best.

For inside lighting, take your photos preferably with your subject near a window.

Avoid using a flash as this causes red eye problems. Try to get clear eye shots showing their colour and shape.

Take photos at your model from their level and at different angles. Zoom in to capture finer details etc. Photographing your subject when they are relaxed enables them to show their true character.

The final photographs should be capable of being enlarged to a minimum of 9" x 7" with good detail.

Photographs can be sent through the mail, or as digital images via e-mail.

The Process

Once the order has been received and confirmed, a 25% deposit is required.

The balance to be payable with your final approval of the finished work.

I will update you at various stages via e-mail images.

If for any reason you are unhappy with the result, I will refund the deposit in full and keep the portrait for my portfolio. Thankfully all my customers have been delighted with the final outcomes and wouldn't change a thing.

I accept payments via money orders or direct deposit via Pay Pal. You do not have to be a member of Pay Pal to use this payment option.

The finished painting will be sent fully matted with a foam core backing board for security during transportation.

Once the portrait arrives it is important to frame your work as soon as possible to prevent smudging and damage.

If you have sent photos through the mail they will also be returned with the artwork.

Guarantee
All my work comes with a guarantee in the form of a certificate of authentication, signed by myself and dated. The papers I use are acid free, heavy weight pastel papers including Art Specrum's Colourfix and Tiziano Fabriano papers. The soft pastels are high quality, archival and sourced from such brands as Schmincke, Unison, Sennelier, Winsor & Newton, and Art Spectrum.
