Estill County High School is located in Irvine, KY.  Located in East Central KY about 1 hour South and East of Lexington.  We have approx. 650 students in our school and compete in Class AAA.  In the state of KY there are 6 football classifications.  We have been running the Double Wing ever since midway thru the 2001 season.  Although one year (2006) we tried to run the spread, and after the 1st 5 games (going 0-5) we ditched it and went back to the DW and won 3 of our last 5 games.  In 2005 we also tried to run some single wing.  Those were 2 lean years.  In 2002 we rushed for 3421 yards and was 2nd in the entire state in team rushing.  In 2003 we rushed for 4291 yards and was 1st overall in team rushing.  In 2004 we rushed for 3441 and were 6th in the state.  In 2007 we once again led the state in rushing with 3968 yards rushing, scoring an average of 34 points a game and averaging (between our 3 leading rushers) 8.4 yards per carry.  We also, for only the second time in the school's history won a playoff game.

Early on we mainly used Valloton's stuff exclusively.  As the years have passed we have incorporated other styles and adapted them to our own needs.  We have used (borrowed) stuff from Murphy, Mensing, and also Calande.  Taking bits and pieces of some of their packages and applying them to our own needs and personnel.  Coach McAdams has also helped us along in our progress.

He helped coach here for the 2005 season.  The seeds he planted in the weight room in 05 are definitely paying off now.  The Senior class that started out under him (in the weight room) as freshmen is THE strongest class to ever come through this school! Hopefully this will carry over and result in a successful 08 campaign.
