Mustangracer08 guide to beginner Pro Z
Starting tips: project Z (not for best Elapsed time, rather for when first starting out)
1 - get auto transmission, set to 6950 rpm
2- go to race track, heat the tires if necessary, stage at the very bottom of the green area (you will be in the green area if the two sets of mini lights are on)
3- pick up the throttle as high as it will go (maximum), and wait
4- press the up arrow after seeing the second light come on
5- see what you ran
6- set the ET you ran as your dial in, and react faster or slower, depending on what the rt was, so slower if it was negative, faster if it was over 0.0xxx
Tips on tips
1 - if you've got the auto tranny installed, you need to go to your garage and click the button to adjust it. When the window pops up, type the number that you want it to shift at (RPM wise) and then have it save. From there, the transmission will automatically shift at that RPM for you. That only works if your launching from an RPM lower than you have the transmission set to shift at
Launching other than full throttle
First stage at the bottom of the green section, put the car in neutral, set the rpm to what you want by pushing the throttle up a little to the required amount (shift points and launch points can be found at the very bottom of the scoop), wait for halfway between the second and third light, then shift into first gear and push up the throttle (fast).
My Ratio help guide for newbies and bracket racers who want to run H2H (Guide is for Project Z with max hp of 671hp)
a few things before:
- get all necessary parts to get your 671hp and full grip (get 200shot nos)
- get auto tranny and set it at 6950rpm (shift point)
- supercharger gets you faster times because of superior acceleration (want a reason? scroll to the end)
- heat the tires up by running the car in the water box, the best way to do this is to stage in the water box, put the car in neutral, give it full throttle, then shift up. you should have 100% tires temperature.
- An Fps of 60 is optimal, if your not getting it, ask a moderator or someone in chat for help. look at the FPS first, if you cant get 60 fps with that, your system may not be up to scratch for this game.
Firstly, the problem most people have is that they launch full throttle or launch at high revs. the times you can get for these are around 8.95 max for full throttle and 8.90 max for a high rpm (eg 5000rpm and above) launch.
the optimal launch rpm is in the 2500-3500 range, from which i recommend you try out of. btw, if you bought turbo, launch around 6000-6500. i launch at 3000 depending on how I'm doing at the time (btw, the throttle is pushed up fast, some players say to "catapult" them).
this launch can get you below 8.9s, generally 8.88's when you get the hang of it, and as you keep tuning, you will find you can occasionally hit those faster times in the 8.85-7 ranges.
but before being able to run these times, your first gear must be set so that you can get the maximum acceleration (1.10x 60ft is good). because you need to take wheel spin in mind, tune first gear by raising it up until the car wheel spins (run your car at the test track in between tuning, preferably at least 3 times), and lower until it stops (its spinning the tires off launch if you see a fluctuation (change, lol) in the traction meter at the top).
Once that is set, set the 5Th gear so the needle just reaches the 7000 rpm line as the car crosses the finish line. if the needle is not reaching the line, make the 5Th gear ratio a bigger number. if the needle is restricting any acceleration before crossing the finish line, lower the 5Th gear. you should be getting 130-131 mph when it is set correctly. (remember, the top speed does not change with quicker times).
Lastly is the gears 2, 3 and 4. it is best to space these gears evenly, with the needle swinging down (or up depending on how you interpret it) to about 5500 rpm each shift. i believe a good set up is to make the gears progressively shorter, so start with 2ND gear shifting to a little above 5500, 3rd about 5500, 4Th on 5500 or maybe a little below, and 5Th below 5500.
note: a higher gear ratio at say 2ND gear (i.e. bigger number) will make the rev range( where the needle goes through) shorter in 2ND gear, so if it was 5700 to 6950 before, it becomes 5500 to 6950. however, this will affect 3rd gear, and make the 3rd gears rev range taller (i.e. the needle travels through a longer range). so from 5500-6950 to 5700-6950 etc.
Also note where the hp and torque curves cross on the dyno(can be seen at garage). it is best not to cross too far if at all over the point.
This is all you need to know to run as well as the top Project Z racers, with times ranging from 8.85-8.9. you will first start getting high 8.8's to 8.9's once you get the basic set up of them, but you will start getting 8.85-7's with practice. make sure to get good reaction times as well, as they count in both h2h and bracket, remember 0.0000 is best. Good Luck!!
