Earning Points doing Test and Tune

So you got your car and now you are looking to buy all the stuff needed to make it fast so you can do a little head to head racing. In the Parts Store many parts can be found that both give your car more horsepower and better traction. But you need to earn some points (game cash) to be able to afford to fix up that car. In this section we are going to discuss how to quickly get up and running at the race track to maximize your point earning early in the game when you need it the most. It is broken down into two sections, reaction time, or rt, and dial in, you should read them both unless you are absolutely clear on how to go about this.

 

Reaction time 

The game treats reaction time just like they do in real drag racing. And just like at your local dragstrip a great elapsed time with a lousy reaction time is more than likely a loss. First let me address exactly what is meant by reaction time, and then talk about how to get a good one. Your reaction time is how long after the green light comes for your front tires to move forward out of the staging beams. If you wait for the green to show then engage first it is not going to be a good reaction time. The reaction time relies on two things. How quickly and consistently you react to the tree and how quickly you car moves forward. A faster car requires less time to move and thus you will engage first gear later in the tree. It takes practice no matter how fast your car is. To start with, if you are running a stock project z with no upgrades you should probably leave on the second or third yellow. Everybody is different though and no one can tell you exactly where to launch, you gotta work it out yourself based on your own ability to react to the tree. Another important factor is where you stage the car in relation to the green staging line. I like to just barely creep in far enough to turn on the second light, you may do it differently but it is important that you stage in the same place every time. From here it is just practice till you consistently get better than .1 reaction times. This will give you max pay from the race track while practicing and make you much more competitive when you race. And every once in a while if you get better than .01 and get close to your dial in you can earn up to 800 points per pass at the race track.

 

Setting Your Dial In 

Dial In is a number used to bracket race. If you notice in a heads up race it doesn’t even show dial in on the race screen. If you are in a bracket race though it is a factor. Your dial in should be set to just barely faster than you run. The closer you run to the dial without going faster, or breaking out, the better your chances of winning. What I set mine at on my bracket cars is down to the 3rd decimal point. My cavy that I love bracket racing is set at 9.516 and a good run for me will be really close to this number, but not faster. It is possible to set it to the 4th decimal but I am not consistant enough to predict that far.

Ok, now you need to make a few practice runs and set your dial. Then start practicing the reaction time till you get it. Then you will be earning big points in test and tune with a much better chance in the tournaments as well. Good luck and have a great time!
