Many Weim owners are not aware that Weimaraners are in the high risk group of breeds for Vaccinosis (Weims and Akitas have potential for the most severe types of reactions)

The first link is to a story about one Weim's health struggles that were driven by overvaccination-

The second is the Weimaraner Club of America's Recommendations for Vaccination

The last is the most up to date protocol from Dr. Jean Dodds, who is the most respected and prominent authority on Dog Vaccination in the country - probably in the world.
It is worth noting that I (Kathy) attended one of her seminars and she specifically adds that for extra sensitive breeds such as Weimaraners, you should request individual- not combination vaccines, separated by 3-4 weeks (example Parvo alone then 3 weeks later Distemper alone)  But in most cases you have to insist that your vet do it because most don't stock individual vaccines!

and another one from Dr. Dodds on the new Protocols for Veterinary Colleges

Vaccine issues are major issues for Weims- minimal vaccination schedules should be used and titers should be performed on adult dogs instead of continuing to give boosters.  If anyone contacts you for more info, feel free to have them email me.
