Information for Exhibitors

Hi, my name is Tony Broadbent.

First of all, I'm an artist and I work from an artists perspective, I will try to give you what you want, I know most of your concerns and will endeavour to make this event as painless as possible for you. A lot of unseen organisation is going on with new ideas and publicity.

Addingham -as a venue is now fully re-established with attendances increasing.  We are noted for the diversity and quality of work on display for sale.  Many artists travel a considerable distance to take part, such is its reputation.  Continuing on since September 2005 through 2006 ( increasing to two day Events throughout 2007, it may well be that more dates will be added to the Calender. June 2008 is already promising to be sold out very soon.

This year we are looking to introduce more photography, along with the traditonal landscape and Sculpture - as well as continuing with our modern and contemporary themes, box canvasses, prints. cards etc all at affordable ( no commission added on ) prices direct from the artists to the customer.

My advice - Pre-book now, reserve your space whilst there is some - too many missed out last year, although I do have a reserve list for short notice replacements due to unforseen cancellations.

There is NO entry charge to my Events for the public.TB

Okay what do you need to know?

Some quick notes.

Some of you have not exhibited before at the Addingham original art Exhibitions and are new to the venue, to help you find it, there is a location map link on the General Information page.

Ideally, you work should be strung especially if it is under glass and or has a heavy frame. Box canvass type pieces with deep sides do not need to be strung, as they will sit on the hooks provided. If in doubt string it.

You are responsible for your own work at all times, during transit, hanging and display as well as personal liabilty. Please try to be there in good time, give yourself at least 45 mins before the start which is at 10am, if you are travelling some distance let me know you are going to be late and I will save your boards.

Generally though if a person does not appear to be attending for whatever reason I will share surplus boards out free of charge - so bring spare work.

I have no policy against artists selling original prints of their own work, however please do not sell works which are not your own.

Photography is more than welcome.

If you are worried about your art or craft being acceptable or not, please discuss this with me, life class studies are welcome as long as they are tasteful and non-offensive. Generally all arts and crafts are welcomed as long as it is your own work.

If an Art Club wishes to take part and display their members work as a collection, that is no problem but is subject to a minimum of 3 boards rental and a representative of the particular Art Club must be present at all times or thereabouts anyway.

We have a good spirit of community at these Events and a good mix of artists and skills, some will help and others will guard their secrets jealously but its all good fun. We have food laid on all day, and those of you who know Joyce, will be glad to know that she will be her usual bubbly self in charge of the Kitchen.

We all want to work and display in a relaxed atmosphere, if you wish to paint or draw etc., whilst the Exhibition is on, I'll find you a dedicated spot with a table,  I feel that if members of the public can actually see artists at work, so much more the better for all.

Large pieces of work, let me know the sizes. After September, we are now be able to accomodate pieces up to 8 feet wide and 4 feet deep on one landscape board.
