People can be so cruel

You think they are your friends

Then they stab you in the back

And the hurt you feel runs deep

People come in many guises

They can be your friend or your foe

Sometimes you don't see the foe

Until its far too late

Like wolves in sheeps clothing

Leading you into a false sense of security

You give them your heart and your love

To only later have it thrown back in your face

Betrayal cuts the deepest

You can lose your faith in others

Just by the hurtful actions

Of one to whom you gave your friendship

Do not lose your faith though

Keep an open mind to strangers

It only takes a chance meeting

To find yourself a new friend

Believe in the good in people

And the rewards are immense

Don't let those bad apples

Make you bitter and twisted

Treat everyone the same

So when you go to bed at night

You can sleep easy in the knowledge

That the fault does not lie within you
