Priest in charge: The Reverend John Tyrrell

The Parish

St Mark's was founded in 1867 at Martin's Corners and later moved in 1915 to the present site in Cumberland Village. An extension was added in 1998 to increase our worship area and expand the Sunday school and church function spaces. St. Mark's is an attractive church with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Community

St Mark's serves a wide area of mostly rural communities following the Ottawa River west to Trim Road in Orleans and east to Wendover. The southern boundary of the parish is formed by Innes Road, Colonial Road and the South Nation River.

Worship

Our Sunday service with Holy Eucharist is held each Sunday at 10:00 AM. Details of special dates and times can be obtained from our weekly bulletin or by calling our automated message centre.

Sunday School for the children is held each Sunday at 10:00 AM (except for the summer break) downstairs in the schoolroom. The children join the rest of the worshippers for communion.

We are fortunate to have an excellent organist and musical director, as well as a small but enthusiastic choir to enhance our worship.

Stewardship

The congregation of St. Mark's is very active in the laity of the church service with many participating as servers, readers, lay administrators, leaders in prayers of the people, and Sunday school teachers. The Anglican Church Women is a vibrant group within the church and the community, holding Bazaars, bake sales, an annual bean supper and dance, hosting parish suppers and special events. In the community, the ACW shares World Day of Prayer with the other churches in the village and co-hosts an annual bake sale with them.
