Born and raised in New Jersey, Sean received a B.A. in Art from Monmouth University in 2006. Although his undergraduate direction was sculpture and painting, his focus has shifted to include Found Object Sculpture, also known as Assemblage. Sean started creating found object sculptures while in college as side projects which evolved into personal outlets. His vision ties using things people throw away with elements of nature throughout. Everything from broken glass to pen caps and old TVs become art to him.
Sean builds freestanding sculptures. They range in size to convey abstract personal and global messages. A common theme throughout his work, the startling use of animal skulls, celebrates the being from which it came. His efforts to glorify the life and beauty of the animal in these sculptures are what make them the most meaningful to Sean.
“The Unknown Solider" is a perfect example of showing tribute to an animal’s life and posting a meaning to its existence. Highly influenced by Civil War impressions, this piece represents the battles everyone faces everyday and how we can overcome the resistance from within and without. The woodlands and streets of New Jersey continue to provide inspiration for his conceptual vision. During college Sean studied abroad in London, England. While there he took classes on the Achitecure of London, traveling around to known and not so known buildings from Big Ben to Tower of London. Enjoying every moment of it, he also had his last Art History class within the London National Gallary. Within these walls are histories of art classics and other favorites. This opened his eyes to a new spectrum of art as a whole. Life would never be the same for him since having these amazing classes within one of the most artistically-rich history countries within the world! Europe has forever changed him in ways unexplainable to the lesstraveled. So Go! Go travel and see what is to be the future of your artbrain; you wont regret it!
