Luke 18:15-17 KJV

(15)  And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

(16)  But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

(17)  Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

John 6:9 KJV

(9)  There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

The central theme in these scripture is that of young faith, or childlike faith, many believe that we much be of a great age before God will use us to do something great. They think that age is a requirement from heaven and children are too young and that God doesn’t honor them in faith. Personally I was told once at the age of 37 or 38 that I seemed young for God to use as a visionary.

Did not God know Jeremiah before he was born? Did not John the Baptist leap within the womb when Mary approached Elisabeth? Wasn’t it Samuel that God spoke to as a child while the priest Eli slept? And wasn’t it David God called as a child to be king in Israel? What about Daniel, and the Hebrew boys? The list goes on.

Oh yeah! God will use children to show great faith; the scripture says “out of the mouth of babes God has perfected praise.”

In our story it wasn’t Peter’s lunch, nor was it one of the other disciples, no it was a young lad’s lunch, and it was the faith in action of a young lad that was ready to trust Jesus into feeding a multitude.

Teach your children about Jesus, lead them to a prayer of repentance at a young age, listen to them talk about Jesus you may be surprised when they show great faith, but Jesus won’t be, He said “such is the Kingdom of Heaven.”  And who knows the faith they show in Jesus may be enough to do something amazing.
