Expressions (of the Christian Faith)

Love is the outward expression of our Christian Faith toward others.
John 13:34 KJV
(34) A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 3:16 KJV
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Proverbs 18:24 KJV
(24) A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Proverbs 17:17 KJV
(17) A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Of all the expressions we have looked at this is the expression which directly involves others and is directed toward others as well as God.
Love stands alone when others have gone, love is a mystery at times, but more often brings us comfort. When Jesus said for us to love God, He also said for us to love people, if we can truly say we love people with the love which God has shown us we then are moving in the right direction in following Jesus.
For the Christian, loving one another with this same love of Jesus becomes our identity to the world, “by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love toward one another.”
Can we say this about ourselves? Can we say that we are identified as followers of Jesus as a direct result of our love for each other? Within the body of the Christian church there is often discourse, hurt feelings, and offenses, but the love we have for one another should set us apart from other religious faiths.
The example of Jesus’ love and the love of the Father is written in great detail; Jesus was willing to give his life for the sins of all mankind, and for his friend, and greater love hath no man than a man that gives his life for a friend.
Follow the example of Jesus with your expression of Christian faith toward God, but also toward others, be a friend to someone new today, and to your others friends, love them like Jesus.
