One a Day Word
Clean
October 20, 2009
Psa 51:7 KJV
(7) Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Psa 51:10 KJV
(10) Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
There is nothing like a good bath, especially after a dirty day. We’ve all been there before, we’ve all had those days when it seem we couldn’t stay clean no matter how hard we tried.
But whether or not we spend the day in the dirt and mire, or we set behind and office desk there is still a need for periods of cleansing. Before we eat we were told to “wash your hands”. Is there a reason why?
Certainly, we can’t afford any foreign germs into our body and by staying clean we help prevent those invading germs from doing their damage, especially in this current flu season.
David was talking about a ritual cleansing practice of the Jews, but he was calling on God to sanctify him, to set him a part from the sin in his life, to do a work with the blood of Jesus that soap can’t do.
David had just committed a terrible sin, he had taken the wife of another man and committed adultery with her. When his attempts to hide his sin failed, he had the man killed, and then he married her. But all he could do was spread the mess around.
Sometimes when we try to clean up without the correct cleaning agent all we do is spread the mess. When we try to cover and hide our own sins, all we do is spread the mess.
Pro 20:9 KJV
(9) Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
We all need to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus; His blood will wash away all our sins. Come often to this fountain of sanctification and wash away the infecting germs of the world that attempt to invade our spiritual man. Sin is poison to the soul, run from it, abstain from the appearance of it, and if there is any sin your life the only cleansing agent is that of the blood of Jesus. Come to His salvation, and be washed by His blood.
Isa 1:18 KJV
(18) Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
