Cynthia McDonald

Gourd Artist
Artist Cynthia McDonald, is a member of the Village Artisans Gallery, has been presenting her carved and stained gourd art for sell this past year. Cynthia is a lifetime resident of Cedarville, Ohio and just beginning to discover her path in art with gourds.
Cynthia is a member of the Ohio Gourd Society, the Indiana Gourd Society and the American Gourds Society. She also has gourds at the Sunwatch Indian Village in Dayton, Ohio as well as gourds in shops throughout the United States. As a member of Ohio Designer Craftsmen she participated in the Columbus Winterfair this past year.
Many of the gourds Cynthia works with are grown in her gourd garden, but purchases gourds as well. Last year Cynthia designed about 400 gourd pieces. The vessels come with and without lids; there are ornaments, masks, and nightlights as well. Each gourd vessel has a beautiful natural color; they are then carved and stained making each gourd a one of a kind design. The gourd vessels are finished with coil weaves or leather and often accents are added such as beads, feathers or stones making each piece special.
Cynthia is often at outdoor shows throughout Ohio and enjoys meeting people that come into her booth. She has long visits with other gourd enthusiasts, sharing ideas on growing, harvesting and cleaning gourds.
