Lowell Converse - "Master Wood Turner"

Lowell is an award winning Woodturner from Beavercreek, Ohio.
He spent 23 years in the U.S. Air Force and 14 years in the
aerospace industry before turning to Turning full time in 2001.
He has been turning seriously since 1998 and is self taught.

Most of Lowell's work makes use of "found" wood which would
otherwise be useful only for firewood.  Most of the larger
pieces are turned from green wood and then dried, turned
again and finished.  The segmented pieces are meticulously
constructed from many small pieces glued together and then
turned.  His work is motivated by the desire to exhibit the
natural beauty and warmth inherent in the wood.

Special attention to form, feel and finish enhance the color
and patterns within each piece.

Lowell is classified a "Master Turner" by the Ohio Valley
Woodturners Guild.

He has won numerous club contests and is a consistent
winner at the Dayton Carvers Guild Artistry in Wood show,
including Best in Show for Woodworking in 2002.

He teaches at the Woodcraft stores in Columbus, Cincinnati,
Dayton, and from his home.  He has had feature articles
published in The American Woodturner and The American
Woodworker magazines and his work has appeared in The
Woodworkers Journal.  Lowell has appeared as the
featured guest giving Tips and Techniques on the
Do-It-Yourself TV channel.
