I have always had a Strong desire to create, and my thirst for creating art has taken me down several different paths. Seeing I learned on my own, some of those paths were very long. I have explored pen & ink, airbrush, watercolor markers, computer photo/digital editing, watercolor pencils and several other mediums. I always seemed to return to my favorite medium of choice, the almighty pencil.
As I was growing up I always considered art as a hobby, something that would occupy my free time, and just for my personal enjoyment. Producing pieces for other people brought joy to my life but, I did not feel that it would provide a stable income that I would be able to support my family on. The term "starving Artist" did not appeal to me. As I grow older I am realizing that I have more free time on my hands which has allowed me to revisit my artistic creative desires.
My exploration in creativity was recently redirected in September 2008, to another type of medium, Scratchboard. I was introduced to scratching by a fellow artist who suggested that I just might "like it". I gave it a try and realized that my friend was wrong. I didn't "like it", I loved it. It felt natural, like breathing, you just do it without thinking. I feel I have found my artistic home.
I greatly enjoy when someone receives a piece that I have created for them and they are genuinely touched by it. In other words my greatest satisfaction is when my art causes a positive reaction from the viewer. If my art brings a smile to one person, then I feel I have succeeded as being an artist.
