Abbie's mom, Mary, became an amateur runner right before the birth of her third child.  "Running has been an outlet for parenthood and is continually challenging, just like being a mom," says Mary with a smile.  She enjoys being outdoors and staying healthy as she strives to beat her previous times in every race.  She trains with her daughters biking beside her and takes one child at a time for some "one on one girl time".

On November 30, 2008 Mary will again participate in the Space Coast Marathon (26.2 miles) in Cocoa Village, Florida.  She will run with her college friend, Stacy, and they are confident they will complete the race in Abbie's honor.  Mary's goal is to cross the finish line in 4 1/2 hours, while the top runners will average 2 hours.  Click here for race results.
