The date of the Annual Meeting is set for

Saturday, February 11th, 2011 from 11am – 12 noon 

at the ABC Country Restaurant, 2350 Boundary Road, Burnaby, BC  Google map link 

All members are encouraged to attend.

 

As called for in the Society Bylaws, new officers for the Provincial Executive Committee will be elected by the members present at the annual meeting.  Elected for a one year term will be the President-elect, Secretary and Treasurer.   As well, one new Provincial Representative to the CEC Representative Assembly will be elected for a two year term.  Committee Chairs are appointed by the president.

Those members interested in actively participating in the direction and activities of BC CEC and who feel they have the time to commit are asked to step forward and be nominated.  Elected officers and Committee Chairs are expected to attend monthly Executive meetings either in person or electronically and assist in organizing BC CEC events.

 

Nominations will be accepted up to and including the day of the Annual General Meeting.  If you are unable to attend in person but are interested in sitting as an Executive Committee member, please arrange to have a signed letter of consent to be nominated present at the AGM.

 

Members who are interested in serving on BC CEC committees are also encouraged to submit your name to any current Executive member.

 

WE ENCOURAGE ALL MEMBERS TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE!  A notice of the meeting and a financial report will be forwarded to all members prior to the AGM.  Your comments are appreciated even if you cannot attend the meeting.

Nominations are being accepted for the following positions with the BC provincial unit of CEC.  All positions are one year terms except the provincial representative to the CEC Regional Assembly which is two years.

 

President-Elect – assumes the duties of the President when needed.  Automatically succeeds to the President position at the end of term. (one year term)

 

Secretary – is the official recorder of minutes at meetings and handles official correspondence for BCCEC. (one year term)

 

Treasurer – is the Chair of the Finance Committee.  Keeps the Executive Committee apprised of the organization's financial affairs at each meeting.  Pays bills, prepares the yearly financial statement and budget for the AGM. (one year term)

 

Provincial Representative to the CEC Representative Assembly – keeps the provincial unit informed about the affairs of CEC, asks for input on matters of policy and represents the province at the annual CEC Representative Assembly held yearly as part of the CEC Conference. (two year term)

 

Additionally we are seeking individuals to serve on the Executive Committee as Chairs and Members of the Standing Committees and a representative from each provincial Chapter.  There are three chapters – Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island (669), Interior and Northern BC (447) and the BC Student Chapter (666).

 

We are especially seeking representation from areas outside the Lower Mainland and are investigating alternate methods of attending meetings including conference calls or computer assisted online meetings.
