Quartermaster - responsible for troop supplies and equipment.

Job Description:
The Troop Quartermaster reports to the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. The Quartermaster keeps track of the
Troop equipment and sees that it in good working order. There are times when the Quartermaster must be
available to check out and check in equipment to the Patrols. The Quartermaster must also work with each
Patrol to ensure that the supplies are replenished as needed. The Quartermaster may also make
recommendations for new or replacement equipment and will develop the reasons why the equipment is
needed and estimated costs.
Specific Duties:
1. Actively participate in the Patrol Leaders' Council meeting and assist other Patrol Leaders in their
planning.
2. Regularly attend at least 80% of the troop meetings, 80% of the Patrol Leaders' Council
meetings, 80% of the campouts, and 50% of other troop activities. If the Quartermaster must miss a
meeting or activity, he must ensure that another Scout will attend in his place and has been instructed
on the Quartermaster’s duties and requirements.
3. Track Troop equipment and ensure it is in good working order, clean, and ready for the next activity
or campout.
4. Make recommendations to the PLC for new or replaced equipment.
5. Wear full uniform to every troop meeting and activity, where a uniform is required.
6. Be a good role model for the other Scouts in the troop, and live by the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and
Slogan.
Goals:
1. Inventory Troop equipment at beginning of leadership term noting any missing or broken equipment.
2. Check in Troop equipment after a campout to ensure it is returned properly cleaned and in good
working order.
3. At the end of the leadership period, conduct a Troop equipment inventory with the new
Quartermaster.

As Troop Quartermaster, there are many resources available to you to help you do your job. These include
people such as your Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Scoutmaster, Assistant
Scoutmasters, Troop Committee Members, and other Scouts. Other resources include teachers, religious
leaders, community leaders, and fellow junior leaders. There is also literature available, some of which is in the
Troop Library.
