It's fun to experiment once in a while to loosen up and see differently -- maybe even discover something useful.

These three paintings are related in the sense that they all lead to similar methods with differing results, all three being interplays of line and color.

Stage One:  Quick Study, Nude 24x30 Acrylic

Quick Study 1 Nude 24x30 Acrylic

This painting was done by brushing the background colors into the existing figure drawing.

Stage Two: Quick Study, Milk Maid and Madame de Farge 24x30 Acrylics
Quick Study 2 Milk Maid 24x30 Acrylic Madame de Farge 24x30 Acrylic

These paintings began with abstract backgrounds to which I added line drawings of the model,

finishing off with a few painted key areas.

   Stage three: Viva! 16x20 Oil

                                                  Viva! 16x20 Oil

                                                  (Click and read my story.)

This painting combined both of the above approaches.

Beginning with an abstract, brushing color into the figure drawing, and then finishing with the two transparent boxes; something new and different resulted.

Thank you for taking the time to look and I hope you enjoyed the experiment as much as I did creating it.
