Hi subscribers and visitors of the 'Painting a week' website/blog page.
I am making some modifications of my weekly posts, to cut down on over postings and to streamline the amount of work in postings.
I am consolidating the weekly posts into one on the Google groups website.
You can still be a part of the group with out getting the email into your inbox. Just go to my google group site and register (free) and keep your involvement to browsing the site only, when it is convenient for you. If you would rather have the posts sent to your email, that is ok too. You can do either.
The address to the google group is as follows:
http://groups.google.com/group/debflood
Another reason for consolidating: Starting Monday August 25, 2008, For the members of the Google group, email version, will be receiving a puzzle piece of a painting of mine. The first group member to guess what painting the puzzle is from, gets a free ATC , Art Trading Card Print of the painting the puzzle piece is from, plus free shipping.
I think this will be a really fun way to get everyone involved in the group and a way for someone to win a fun trading card print. This puzzle game will be happening each month, depending on how long it takes to get a correct answer on the first painting. Each week a new puzzle piece from the same painting will be sent out until it is guessed.
Thank you for being loyal readers of my news and viewing my art.
Have a great weekend!
Debbie Flood

"A country drive" SOLD
Hi I'm posting here a watercolor I just finished up. 'A country drive'. This painting was purchased this weekend, by the owner and driver of this beautiful little Haflinger, small draft. The Draft's name is Paul, he's the lead horse of all her hitches. Thank you Paul and your lovely lady! I met her and her leading man, Paul, at a horse show the first of the summer. They normally show at the Draft and pony horse shows in the hitch classes. She drives anywhere from a one horse hitch up to six. Friday I went to the Skowhegan State Fair, where a Draft Horse and Pony show was going on. I think you will all enjoy what I come up with this winter from the reference shots I got! My next project is to render this ladies 4 horse hitch, including Paul, leading them through their paces. We are all excited to see what I come up with for a painting! My family and I didn't get home until midnight that night! I'm still trying to catch up with myself. I have also rendered 3 new oil paintings, last Thursday, of Shelter dogs! These lovely little 6 x 8 oils on canvas are for the Canine Art Guild's online exhibit titled 'Helping Paws 2008 Exhibition, Making tails wag.' This exhibit will go live online in October of 2008. As October is 'recognize your shelter' month. Proceeds from this show (the paintings sold) will go to the shelters of the Artist's choosing. Of course my proceeds will go to the The Humane Society of Knox County in Thomaston, Maine, where my dog, Chandler, came from. I worked these 3 paintings from actual dogs at this shelter. I will share each one with you over the weeks to come. I also learned that I got the watercolor painting "Cowboys delight" accepted into the New Jersey Equine Art Assoc. 9th Annual Exhibit: Art of the horse. Exhibit dates are September 14~October 25, 2008 at the Somerset Art Association Bedminster, NJ. The painting 'Cowboys delight' can be seen on my website; http://www.debfloodart.com or at http://debbieflood.blogspot.com Saturday I dropped off paintings into the Union State Fair, Union Maine, along with some of my boys art! It's a family affair ya know! Sunday was spent preparing to ship to 3 different exhibits. The American Academy of Equine Art, AAEA in Kentucky, September 2008, the New Jersey Equine Art Assoc, NJEAA, Sept. 2008 and the Draft Horse Classic, Art at the Classic in Grass Valley California, Sept. 2008. ooh,,...the paper work! Well, you know, it can't be painting, painting, painting all the time! Thanks for looking, reading and enjoy the last days of summer! Debbie
