Bishop McGrath's vision and purpose for the Youth Council
- To send a message that young people have gifts which are necessary to the church now, and should be a priority of every parish community in the Diocese of San Jose
- To hear the voice of young people in the Diocese of San Jose regarding the implementation of the Pastoral Plan in their local parish Communities
- To assess the Plan's relevance by The Young Church, and its power as an authentic vehicle to connect them to the Church
- To act as ambassadors between young people, parish leadership and the Bishop's office of what is happening or not happening in the parish communities on their behalf
The members will demonstrate the following qualifications
- Currently serving in a leadership role in their school or parish.
- A person of faith.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Respect of their peers.
- Academics: grades are important and must be maintained. (Parents will monitor their child's academic performance and notify us if grades become an issue.)
- Must be able to attend one of the Youth Leader training retreats July 10-14 or July 26-30. Youth Council members' fee for this training will be sponsored by the Diocese of San Jose.
