My work most often explores human emotion, expression, and vulnerability. I create a variety of figurative works, as well as paintings depicting personal items.
Furniture design has always had a symbolic side to it. Custom furniture reflects the client’s tastes and ideas about society and place. It is my desire to provide my clients with furniture suitable to the homes and lifestyles they have chosen.
My abstracted landscapes are inspired by intense experiences of everyday life: from skiing to hiking, golf, canoeing, martial arts and sunsets. My home is on Pool Pond, and last year I created works inspired by the beauty of Mt. Monadnock sunsets with echoing reflections in the pond. In the past, I have been inspired by flying to create aerial landscapes and by my three children to create childscapes. During the summer of 2011, I worked with layers of pastel and pencil gestures that represented tree branches as well as an energy within the landscape.
