| EL Flag Football: 9/28/10 - The elementary flag football team won their first game this afternoon against Pinecrest. Final score was Trinity: 36, Pinecrest: 6. The boys played quite well for their first game. Justin Langdon and Sumner Howell scored two touchdowns each while Andrew Dever and Ben McGillicuddy each had one score. Our quarterbacks, Nate Bradder and Anthony Kuhn did a great job finding open receivers and spreading the ball around. Justin Langdon was our reception leader, catching 5 passes, followed by Andrew Dever with 4. Seven other players caught at least one pass. It's great to get this first win, but we still have plenty of room for improvement. We'll look to get even smoother as we get more game experience. Overall, though, I could not be happier with the effort our boys gave. They played very well together with a collective enthusiasm that elevated the level of play for the whole team. It's a great start to the season.

| Knights 13 point rally with 6 minutes left seals win and perfect season
After a shaky start, the Trinity EL Football team needed a 4th quarter rally to defeat the Pinecrest Bulldogs to secure Trinity's first-ever elementary championship in any sport. Despite defeating Pinecrest 56-0 the week before, the Knights faced a much improved, tenacious Pinecrest team. The Knights played a little tight, perhaps feeling the pressure of the moment and the expectations of a capacity crowd, whipped into a frenzy by the Trinity Cheerleaders, at the Santa Clarita Soccer Center.
The Knights gave up a first quarter TD and trailed 6-0 for much of the game. The defense never gave up though and held the Bulldogs scoreless for the duration of the game. Angus MacAdam made a critical sack during the game and Coleman Sweeney had an incredible interception at midfield in the second quarter where he wrestled the ball away from a Pinecrest receiver.
With a little over 6 minutes in the 4th quarter the Knights were still not on the board. Facing a critical 4th and 15, deep in their own territory, Head Coach Lou Lintereur called the number of one of the Knights most reliable receivers, Caden Kulp. Knights quarterback Ian Caddow spotted Kulp streaking up the left sideline and threw a perfect strike. Kulp hauled in the pass and ran to daylight as the partisan Knights crown went berserk.
The extra point was no good and the score was knotted at 6-6. Trinity's defense hung tough and Trinity got the ball back with just minutes to go. Caddow drove the Knights downfield and after Will Howell's reception put the ball on the 2 yard line, the stage was set for a dramatic win. With :27 on the clock, Caddow scrambled and then found Drew Black wide open in the back of the end zone. The extra point was good to Justin Langdon, who lost his shoe on the play, yet recovered to make the reception making the score 13-6. With time running out, Caden Kulp batted down a Pinecrest hail Mary and the celebration was on.
CONGRATULATIONS KNIGHTS - So the Knights capped an undefeated season in dramatic fashion. Athletic Director Matt Dixon presented coach Lintereur the SCVPAL Elementary Flag Football Championship Trophy, which will travel to the school that wins the championship each year. The trophy will be on display this week at the Trinity reception desk.
Many thanks to Coach Lintereur, our cheerleaders who cheered so passionately at each of the games, the parents and all those who supported the team this year. But the day belonged to the players who put in the hard work and despite a rocky start in the game, never gave up. Even though they didn't have their 'A' game, they still found a way to win in the end, the mark of true champions.

Everybody seemed to get into the quarterback act with starter Ian Caddow going 12 for 18 for 93 yards and 5 TDs, Sumner Howell going 5 for 7 for 45 yards and 1 TD, and Anthony Kuhn went 3 for 6 for 9 yards and also had an interception. Ten players caught balls on the day: Drew Black caught 2 passes, 1 for a TD, Caden Kulp caught 4 for 19 yards, one for an extra point and returned a pick for a score. Will Howell caught 2 for 2 yards, Jonathan Kugler 2 balls, both for extra points, Nathan Mills, who seems to only catch balls in the end zone, had 1 reception for an extra point, Koby Schafer had 2 catches for 19 yards and Jonathan Young caught 1 for 5 yards.
On defense, the opposing quarterbacks were hard pressed to complete passes as the great pass rush of MacAdam, MacLean, Mills, Oscar Hernandez, Jake Swartz and Colin Lintereur kept them under pressure all day. The pass rush has been a key to the team's success over the season. Justin Langdon played lock down corner and broke up a key pass play.
The boys have done so well they get an automatic bid to the SCVPSAL Champion Game against the winner of the Pinecrest v. Legacy game tomorrow. Join us for a chance to see Trinity take home a championship!
