Crimson Orchestra

This is the fifth year for the Trinity Crimson String Orchestra. The orchestra started with a handful of students who had never played a stringed instrument before and has grown to a group of 18 who play beautiful classical, bluegrass, jazz and other selections! It started with violins and cellos and grew to include piano, percussion, and double bass. We look forward to adding more instruments as our student base grows!

The mission of orchestra is to train up excellent musicians who love to play. The benefits of playing a stringed instrument are numerous: It improves a child's ability to focus and concentrate, it trains them to cooperate and work as a team with the other members of the orchestra in order to make music, it trains them in responsibility and self control, and it's fun!

The orchestra performs at various Corporate time assemblies and other school functions such as Grandparents' Day. They also perform at the Christmas concert, play a mini-Christmas concert at the mall and perform a full-length concert in May. The advanced group also looks forward to performing at festivals and other competitions.

Presently the orchestra program includes students in 3rd through 9th grades. Each year there is a “Beginning Orchestra” group and an “Advanced Orchestra” group. There is no experience required to be in Beginning Orchestra. The class is all about learning to play a stringed instrument and learning how to read music. As new musicians progress, they graduate into the Advanced Orchestra. If a student already knows how to play they may audition to go straight to the advanced group.

Tuition for orchestra is $60 per month plus instrument rental fee ($25-45) if you do not have an instrument. Beginning orchestra is on Mondays from 3-4pm and advanced is to be determined.

There will be a demonstration given to all the students in the first week of September and a flyer will be sent home with more information about how to join.
