Macedonia is about the size of Vermont and shares borders with Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo and Serbia. The appoximate 2.2 million population consists of Macedonians (70%), Albanians (25%) and others (Turks, Roma and Serbians). About 40% of the population lives in the capital, Skopje, and the surrounding areas. The primary religions are Orthodox Christianity and Islam and are directly associted with ethnic ties. The Evangelical Christians account for only about 5% of the population and cross ethnic and cultural boundaries.
Into this context we work closely with the Evangelical Church of Macedonia, our national partner, in church planting, leadership development, ESL and various outreaches into the various communities. Through this partnership we've also started an International Church which serves the large expatriot population here in the capital.
