        G Owen

                                                                          Artist Statement

The art that  G Owen passionately creates is about the celebration of beauty in living things and inanimate objects, such as florals and still lifes. The artist sees beauty everywhere in the world that God has created and strives to communicate what he sees physically to place it  in an art form that speaks to his viewers heart.  What is beauty? Recently, I found a definitive quote for beauty that I liked in an article from the Artists Magazine, January/February 2007 issue. In the article entitled "In Search of Beauty" By Mary Todd Beam , the  artist quoted Agnes Martin, a Canadian-American painter: "When I think of art I think of beauty. Beauty is the mystery of life. It is not in the eye, it is in the mind. In our minds there is an awareness of perfection." Mary Todd Beam found this quote from ArtLex, an online art dictionary. I liked this quote because I do see things not only by sight, but also in my mind.  G Owen's work emanates the air of serenity and peace. In a world that is fast paced the artist strives to communicate through his art that we should take the time to stop and appreciate the gift of life, beauty, and the divine wonders that nature beholds.

                                                                             About the Artist

G Owen, a Texas native, has lived in the  Central Arkansas area near Little Rock, Arkansas for over 18 years.  He is listed in the Arkansas Artist Registry, and is a member of the Arkansas League of Artists in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Also, G Owen is a past President of the Arkansas League of Artists. The artist enjoys producing his art chiefly through watercolors, but he works in pencil, pen and ink, and other mediums as well.  Through his creations, the artist paints to communicate the feeling of joy, peace, hope, comfort, encouragement, and beauty.

The subjects that G Owen creates are chiefly landscapes, but he enjoys the challenges of other subjects. The artist sees his subjects in his mind, and lets the beauty he sees get into his soul, so that he may paint from his heart. Although the artist's art training is by trial and error , his collegiate education and experience are in the areas of biological science, environmental science, forestry, and conservation. Working in these areas has definitely influenced his art and has given him the knowledge to integrate what he has seen in nature into his paintings and drawings.

He  continues to learn his craft through major art magazines, and  book publications. Periodically, he participates in the Museum School workshops at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. By participating in the the Museum School he works to enhance his skills by continuing to learn from other artists.  G Owen exhibits his art throughout the local region . He has been successful with his paintings being purchased for private collections across the United States.

G Owen is formerly represented by Galerie Bailey, Rahling Road, in West Little Rock, Arkansas. Galerie Bailey is now closed. The artist is in the process of self-representation, but is open to gallery representation.
