What we've got here is a list of characters I've created over the years. They span the gamut from Mary Sues to fully fleshed-out characters. Yet, while I was compiling this list, I noticed some similarities between these characters. So, in the interest of making this thing more interesting, I figured I may as well list the different, oh, let's call them "classes," for the characters :P

The Avatar - For all intents and purposes, a Mary Sue. The powers different Avatars have vary, but at their core, they are merely an extension of my own personality. Mostly used for RPing.

The Parody - Again, the Parody is usually a Mary Sue, but as the name would suggest, these characters are more of a gross exaggeration of a Mary Sue, blown out of proportion for comedic purposes. They have little personality beyond their ego and shiny, shiny hair.

The Cop - As the name would suggest, the Cop is very cop-like. Determined, resourceful, intelligent, and a strict enforcer of the law. The Cop has a highly developed sense of justice, but knows that there are lines that, while tempting, should never be crossed.

The Detective - While very much like the Cop, the Detective is a darker character. Disillusioned with the system, bitter thanks to the establishment, and generally pessimistic. The Detective is still an upholder of justice, but they'll use any means to an end, even if those means are less than law abiding.

The Protector - While personalities may vary, as the name would suggest, the Protector protects. Be it a person or object, willingly or unwillingly, the Protector is charged with the well-being of others.

The Ward - Companion to the Protector, the Ward is the person placed under their care. While personalities may vary, the Ward is always younger than the Protector in some aspect, be it through age or a sense of naiveté.

The Superpowered - As the name would suggest, these characters have super powers. Whether these powers are used for good or ill depends on the personality of the individual, as well as the type or variety of powers said individual will have.

The Warrior - These characters live for combat. Proficient with weapons of all kinds, master of many deadly arts, the Warrior is essentially a killing machine. Whether good or bad, the Warrior always has an honourable side, though it may not always be apparent.

The Potential - These are seemingly average characters that have the potential to be more than they seem. Though touched by destiny, these characters can go through much of life thinking that they are no different from anybody else.

The Avenger - As you would guess, the Avenger's main goal in life is to avenge. Be it themselves, their family, or something else, the Avenger pursues their goals with a frightening single-mindedness. The Avenger has no thought for the future, past their vengeance, and it is often up to another character, usually a Ward, to show them there's more to life than revenge.

======================

(The Gaia avatar things are only temporary, and will be replaced once I actually get around to drawing proper pictures)

Name: Anime Girl
Class: Avatar/Superpowered
Fandom: Various Anime
Info: Pretty much the first real character I ever created, she was heavily, HEAVILY influenced by the anime at the time. She was a Super Saiyan Pokemon Master, who moonlighted as a Sailor Scout and battled Hitler in her Gundam and with her Digimon. Quite frankly, she embarrasses me, but as my first real character, I've always had a soft spot for her. Along with my brother and cousin's equally as Mary Sueish characters, Saiyan Boy and Son Gohan, the three of us formed the Anime Force.

Name: Manga Girl
Class: Avatar/Superpowered/Avenger
Fandom: Various anime
Info: She was basically the evil incarnation of Anime Girl, created by Hitler (don't ask) in his attempt to destroy the Anime Force. She, along with Dragon Boy and Son Goku (evil versions of my brother and cousin's characters) was eventually turned to the good side, and wacky hyjinks ensued.

Name: Andraia Watson
Class: Avatar/Potential
Fandom: Pokemon/Digimon/Monster Rancher
Info: Andraia was my all-round monster training girl, who was pretty much the same, personality and appearance wise, no matter what fandom I stuck her in. In fact, the only thing that would change would be her accessories, which would either be a belt full of Pokeballs, a Digivice/Tag+Crest, or a flying snowboard (wtf, I know). Oh, and she was also clairvoyant to varying degrees. I got her first name from the character AndrAIa, from Reboot, because I thought that was an awesome name, and her last name from Doctor John Watson of Sherlock Holmes fame, as I had been reading all the Holmes books I could at the time.

Name: Iradurel "Ivanova" Kor-Jiran'ler
Class: Avatar/Superpowered/Warrior
Fandom: Original
Info: Ivanova got her beginnings when, while signing up to a friend's forum, I used the last name of my favourite character from Babylon 5, Susan Ivanova. Eventually, the forum turned into a RP thing, and so Ivanova's character developed beyond just a mere avatar. While she has my personality at her core, she is far more extreme in the way she expresses herself. While she tends to come off as a violent character, she has a sort of child-like innocence that hides a world-weary mentality.

Name: Rokurn "Ryle" Mir-Jiran'ler
Class: Hero/Superpowered/Cop
Fandom: Original
Info: As a companion to Ivanova, Ryle is basically what I envisioned in the ideal guy: strong but not overbearing, confident without being egotistical, sensitive without being ashamed, and a sense of calm (and humour) to counteract the world in which he lives. That, and he's attractive without looking effeminate, because I find androgyny in males to be extremely aggravating.

Name: Zankari the Assassin
Class: Avenger/Detective/Protector
Fandom: Original
Info: She originally came about when I saw a picture of Vash the Stampede, and drew a female character similarly attired, though darker in colour. Then, since I had the character design, I started working on an RPGMaker game about her and the adventures she would have as an assassin. The game, however, never went anywhere, and all I have left of it are a few unfinished levels and a story outline.

Name: Mistaria
Class: Ward
Fandom: Original
Info: She was going to be Zankari's sidekick/adopted sister in the game, but as that never went anywhere, I never had a chance to really flesh out her character. Appearance and personality wise, she's based on my cat :3

Name: Dane of Shardar
Class: Ward/Cop
Fandom: Original
Info: He was to be the love interest to Zankari, and the person who would ultimately lead her to her revenge and redemption. He was going to be a sort of opposite to her, personality wise, as well, as he had a much more upbeat and positive outlook on life, whereas Zankari merely wanted to kill the ones who had wronged her, and damn the rest.

Name: Eulb
Class: Avenger/Superpowered/Warrior
Fandom: Anything with vampires in it
Info: Two friends and I started co-writing a story about three vampires who were out to kill the rest of their kind, with each of our characters being reverse-named after a colour, blue in my case. Eulb (which is sometimes pronounced as EH-loo, or EH-lube) was the daughter of a Ukrainian nobleman who was captured when she was a baby, and then raised by a vampire till she was old enough for him to take her as his bride. But once he turned her, she tore his throat out with her teeth, so things didn't go according to plan for him.

Name: Nosmirc
Class: Avenger/Superpowered/Warrior
Fandom: Anything with vampires in it
Info: A male vampire who, along with my two friend's male vampire characters, would eventually team up with Eulb and company, and wreak bloody vengeance on vampire kind. He was originally a British sailor who, once turned, took to piracy and banded together a crew of vampires with whom he would plunder and pillage with on the high seas. Like Eulb, who's name is "blue" backwards, Nosmirc (pronounced "NOS-murk") is "crimson" backwards.

Name: Narina Pesh
Class: Avatar/Warrior/Cop
Fandom: Star Wars
Info: Created for a Star Wars RP with some friends, she was my Jedi character with an extreme fondness for Lightsabers. And by "extreme fondness" I mean "all-encompassing obsession." She was a master in both the crafting and use of the weapon, and had been in more Lightsaber duels than anyone in the entire galaxy. As one would expect with such a dangerous obsession, Narina had more than her fair share of injuries. Point in fact, most of her limbs were prosthetics, but she never let that stop her.

Name: Ella Black
Class: Warrior/Superpowered
Fandom: Original
Info: Ella started out during a contest between my brother and I to see who could create the most original character that would fit into the Teen Titans universe. But, my brother was a little short on attention span at the time, and he never actually got around to making a character, so I won by default. However, now that I had this character with a carefully crafted back-story, I realized that I didn't need to stick her with the Teen Titans because she could stand on her own. Ella was part of a secret project to infuse people with elemental powers (water, fire, ice, wind, earth, stone, and electricity respectively) by way of elementally charged "power cores." The power of these cores, however, was too great, and all the subjects but Ella died. Wanting to push their luck, the project had the rest of the elemental cores implanted into Elle, thus giving her multiple powers, as well as a multiple personality disorder. These personalities would manifest themselves whenever Ella uses a power that was not originally her own.

Name: Hyde White
Class: Warrior/Superpowered
Fandom: Original
Info: Hyde was a part of another group being infused with power cores, one that was created with the purposes of controlling the elemental group that Ella was a part of. Unlike Ella's group, however, he group was implanted with cores that would allow them to manipulate matter to a certain degree. This group was split into two subgroups, half of which were implanted with gills, and the other half with wings. The procedure to do this, however, was highly dangerous, and Hyde (in the gill group) was the only one to survive the procedure. Like they had done with Ella, the project pushed their luck and graphed wings onto Hyde. The operation successful, Hyde now could breath underwater and fly in the sky.

Name: Aurora McAwesome
Class: Parody
Fandom: Sailor Moon
Info: Aurora came about one day when I was on the toilet, wondering why so many Sailor Moon Mary Sues, written by many different authors, all seemed to turn out the same way. That train of thought chugged along for a while, and started wondering how the Sailor Senshi would really react, having this uber perfect, super powerful chick suddenly plop into their lives, and act like they were all the best of friends? Then I started wondering what one would call such an abomination, and so thinking like a Mary Sue author, the first word relating to my character that popped into my head was "awesome", and so I just popped a "Mc" in front of it, to make it really ridiculous, and gave her the first name of "Aurora" after the pretty atmospheric event/one of the most annoying Disney princesses (I hated Sleeping Beauty, because all she did was sleep through the entire movie).

Name: Alexandra Donovan
Class: Cop/Potential
Fandom: Original
Info: A Police Enforcer (something of a cross between a regular cop, a private investigator, and a whole CSI team) in a canalled city I've had reoccurring dreams about since I was five, Alex is next in line to become the Mayor of the city (which is more like a country than an actual city, and the position more like that of a king or queen). Before that time comes, however, she wanted to do some actual physical good for the city, before she became trapped in bureaucracy. It turned out, though, that unbeknownst to her parents, she was genetically manipulated from her conception onwards, to essentially be a spy within her own household, and a weapon with which to overthrow the current government. She cottons on to this plan, however, and sets out to get rid of this coup before it gets worse.

Name: Derek Finnegan
Class: Cop/Protector
Fandom: Original
Info: A friend of Alex's from her youth, he enrolled in the Police Enforcer academy with her, and upon graduation the two of them became partners. Personality wise, the two of them are quite similar, which is part of the reason why they get along so well, but Derek tends to be a little more relaxed in his way of thinking, a far more care-free than his partner. He's always looking out for her though, because Alex tends to get so focused in her pursuit of justice that she'll put herself in unnecessary danger.

Name: Belinda Holmes
Class: Detective/Superpowered
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes
Info: As a lifelong fan of the Sherlock Holmes books, it's not surprising that I've had a few Holmes related dreams. Belinda just happens to come from one of them. In the dream, she was the several multiples of great-grand niece of the detective. She was also part of an elite police force that had been used in psychic experiments. A war breaks out around this time, and Belinda and the rest of her squad are forced into the front lines because of their powers. After said war, Belinda retires from law enforcement, though she offers her services as a private detective.

Name: Bes'ook Fahn
Class: Protector/Superpowered
Fandom: Original
Info: The idea for Fahn first came to me after I had watched a healthy dosing of Doctor Who, and then the Disney Beauty and the Beast. I was doing a bit of aimless surfing on the web, thinking of nothing in particular, when I suddenly got this voice in my head screaming at someone for destroying their planet. After pausing briefly to wonder what the hell was wrong with me (the answer: quite a bit), I started wondering what kind of person would say such a thing, and why, and I eventually came up with the character of Fahn, the first person on her planet to travel into space, as well as the last, for once she achieved a stable orbit, her planet was mysteriously destroyed. It's only later she finds out that the person who destroyed her planet was a child with godlike powers, and now she must take care of said child, without killing him. Ironically enough, I got the name for Fahn from a girl I went to school with, and a few days after I initially came up with the character, I heard on the radio that the real Fahn was busted for drug possession o_o

Name: Dran
Class: Ward/Superpowered
Fandom: Original
Info: Though he is barely out of infancy, Dran is capable of destroying entire planets, and has destroyed many already. A scion of an immensely powerful race, he, along with all other children of his race when they reach a certain race, had been cast out amongst the stars. This abandonment was not done out of any kind of malice, it's just that his people can't stand to be around each other for very long. Someone, however, is going around killing his peers, and so the adults decide to step in before Dran is killed, as he is the most powerful of his kind, despite his age. When they manage to track him down, he had just inadvertently destroyed Fahn, planet, and so they end up getting her to look after Dran.

Name: Sempharazon
Class: Avenger/Superpowered
Fandom: Original
Info: Like Fahn, Sempharazon is the sole survivor of his now Dran destroyed planet. Yet unlike Fahn, he is bound and determined to kill Dran, in order to avenge his people. So dedicated in his goal, he no longer uses he real name, but the name of his people to refer to himself. He is brutal and will use any means to achieve his end, though there is a strange sense of honour about him.
