Thespis - A Greek poet, who appeared in many tragedies.

 

Dionysia - The god of wine and religion celebrating the power of nature. Also known as Bacchus.

 

Dithyrambs - Hymn and dance of ancient Greece in honour of Dionysus.

 

Attica - Greece

 

Aeschylus - Playwright

 

Solon - Poet

 

Burlesque - Something that ridicules another subject

 

Skene - Scenery

 

Paraskenia - A stone scene wall

 

Proskenion - A raised platform

 

Proscenium - The stage of an ancient theatre, located between the background and the orchestra.
