Hello, I'm Helen Whately, and I'm standing to be your next MP.

I am standing because I would like to make life better in Kingston & Surbiton. Government doesn’t have all the answers, but it can make a real difference. Most importantly, I want a future for us, our children and grandchildren not threatened by conflict, terrorism and climate change.

These are my views, but I am here to be your representative. If you have ideas for making Kingston & Surbiton constituency a better place to live, let me know. Please write to me (email or post), call me or come and see me.

What matters to you? Please click on the link below to complete my short survey on local and national issues. It should take you less than 4 minutes to complete, and by letting me know your views you help me tackle the right issues - the ones that matter to you. Your answers will be treated confidentially, and don’t worry if you’re not a Conservative voter – I will listen to everyone.

Conservatives triumph in Norwich.

In a stunning by-election victory the Conservatives have overturned a Labour majority of 5,500. The new MP, Chloe Smith, now has a majority of over 7000. This is a swing of 16.5%, a far greater victory than many people anticipated.

Conservative leader David Cameron hailed the win as “historic” and it showed that the country was ready for a change. He went on to praise the positive campaign run by Chloe Smith, in the face of “utterly despicable” tactics by Labour.

Helen Whately added her own message of support stating “I was in Norwich on Sunday and I was impressed by the hard work that Chloe put in to win the seat. I believe that this stunning result shows that people are fed up with Labour and that they trust a Conservative government to make the right choices for the country.”
