My Priorities for Kingston & Surbiton are

Saving our Health Service

I believe the government has mismanaged the NHS. Shortsighted cuts and closures must be stopped, central targets ditched and front line staff empowered to make decisions.

Caring for our elderly and disadvantaged

Many pensioners struggle on low incomes while means testing penalises prudent savings. Our elderly and disadvantaged are the victims of simultaneous council and NHS cuts; they deserve more help, not less.

Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour

Safer neighbourhood teams are a start but not enough. We need more police and more effective policing, but tough policing alone will not solve the problem; state and society must work together to turn around the culture which has allowed crime and anti-social behaviour to thrive.

Supporting local shops and businesses

They provide jobs and community services yet local shops and businesses are hampered by tax and red tape (not least from the EU); we must stop squeezing our local economy and instead help it to flourish.

Looking after our environment and heritage for future generations

We live in an historic area with wonderful buildings and parks, yet this heritage is swamped by ugly development and thoughtless signage, and don’t get me started on recycling....
