| BRIEF HISTORY In June 1918, the ULHS of today was founded on a 481 hectare campus, as the Catarman Farm School, then became the Catarman Agricultural School, and later the Catarman High School, which in 1951 was converted into Catarman National Agricultural High School. On June 14, 1956, it became a state college, the Samar Institute of Technology consistent with its goals and considering the expanded development program of the college, the offering of Secondary Education Program remain its status as the secondary Agricultural School which the vocational agriculture, home economics, industrial, and technical curriculum. Thereafter, on June 20, 1964, the University status was granted by virtue of R.A No. 4126, the UEP, as the primary institution of higher learning in the Eastern Visayas Region. Committed to provide quality education in thier service area, the University of Eastern Philippines continuously expanded the tertiary education programs in Agriculture, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Sciences and Veterinary Medicine and related fields vis-a-vis the Secondary Education program which in 1966 the Secondary Education curriculum was expanded to having two stream, i.e the College Preparatory High School (CPHS) and the Secondary Agricultural School (SAS). The University's commitment to provide quality instruction in Secondary Education program in 1990, the ULHS curriculum offered the Science curriculum side-by-side with the New Secondary Education Curriculum, with the hope to respond the Science and Technical programs of the government which the ULHS can share and provide its clientele as an active component of the University of Eastern Philippines vision to continue focus its efforts toward developing quality human resources.
