Join homeschoolers from around the state for HSC's first ever Spring Extravaganza. Bring the whole family for a day of fun and creativity for everyone!
· Swap-o-rama-rama: Swap-o-rama-rama is a giant clothing swap and do-it-yourself workshop where you can creatively alter and re-use clothes. Bring a bag of clean clothes of any size and shape and add it to the Community Swap Tables. Then take anything you like from the Swap Tables and alter them (or not!) to your heart's content, using our sewing supplies and machines, fabric paints, trims, buttons and other notions. Alter clothing or make it into something other than clothes. We'll have a Fashion Show to show off our creations at 4 pm. Our volunteers can help make your vision a reality. Donations of more trims, notions and fabrics are welcome.
· Live Action Role Play (LARP): LARP is a role playing game made live, where players physically act out characters, interacting within a story and fighting battles using foam weapons. HSC's own Joshua Murphy will be leading the day's LARP. You'll need to be at least 8 years old, bring your own weapons and have them checked for safety before the game begins. Don't forget, you must bring you own weapon to play. Learn how to make a safe weapon here . Learn more about LARP here .
· Game Room: Bring your own or play some of our classic HSC Conference Game Deck games. You'll find people of all skill levels and ages to play with.
· Magic the Gathering Tournament: Bring your best deck to play in a tournament against other Magic players or just bring your cards to play and trade.
· Craft Workshops: Join in workshops to make Frankenstuffies (rearranged stuffed animals), Nature Art or Personalized Flip Flops, or to learn how to spin wool.
· Soup and Bread Lunch: For just $3, buy a lunch of soup (home made by HSC volunteers) and bread. (To volunteer to bring a crock-pot of soup, email Pam here.)
· Silent Auction: To benefit HSC, we'll be holding a Silent Auction of items hand made by HSC families. We'd love it if you'd bring a hand crafted item to donate or make something to donate the day of the Extravaganza.
· Teen Dance: From 7:30 to 10 pm, for a separate admission of $5 each, teens can attend a dance in the Camp Herms Lodge planned for teens by teens!
· Camping: Need (or want) to stay overnight the night before or after the Spring Extravaganza? Tent camping is available the nights of March 23rd and 24th for up to 70 people. Camping fees are $12 per person for one or both nights. There are restrooms (but no showers) and a fire ring (bring wood) and the camp site is a walk down from the parking lot.
