Thousands of owners reported their lost hurricane pets, and many rescuers registered the animals they saved, at http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/. This Petfinder-sponsored Animal Emergency Response Network (AERN) was vital to matching owners and their displaced pets for reunification. Occasionally, new "lost" or "found" records still appear in the AERN as of 01.30.07.
An active community of volunteers at http://www.nola.com/forums/animals/ remains dedicated to recovering still-missing Katrina pets and sharing news about hurricane pet recovery. It's never too late to volunteer your help, ask for help or seek your adopted Katrina pet's original owner.
Volunteers are also still working to reunite pets and owners at http://forums.petfinder.com/viewforum.php?f=16&sid=13dce63440b6f083108988e0f2e08a5d. This Petfinder.com forum can also be accessed from http://forums.petfinder.com/index.php?c=1 if the above link does not work.
