I have lived in Kingston/St Andrew for over 50

years, since I came here from England with my

Jamaican husband in 1956, when I was 22 years

old. Apart from times when I have gone to the

USA, the UK and Haiti to do research, I have

lived all the time in Kingston, with only

occasional days spent in other parts of the

island. As for a very distinguished predecessor,

H P Jacobs, Kingston became my home, and like

him, though much less searchingly, I have

come to know much of interest about its history.

This site is a small attempt to share some of

  that history.

  COLOUR SCHEME

The colours of the Jamaican flag are black, for the majority

of the people, green, for the land, and gold, for  the sun,

and they are clearly the main part of the colour scheme,

but a hundred years ago Jamaicans considered their

national colours to be blue, for the sea, green for the land,

and yellow for the sunshine, so I have included the blue

  as well.
