Some of What I'm Reading in 2007
  • Missy said I needed to read The Alchemist, so I am. (1/1/07)
  • A breakup, an adventure, a search. Honeymoon With My Brother is perfect for me right now. (3/3/07)
  • On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan; I was surprised how small this book is when I bought it. I wonder if I'll be surprised when I finish? (6/22/07) [Update: small and powerful.]
  • Reading Pat Conroy (this time, Beach Music) is like reading a love letter to South Carolina written by someone who is as bitter as I am. It's like being addicted to fire. (7/12/07)

  • It is a truth universally acknowledged that Jane Austen is like crack cocaine to a girl who likes books. (8/14/07)

Some of What I Read in 2006

  • The Finishing School by Gail Godwin. I can usually get into anything Godwin writes, but I'm having a hard time with this one. (1/14/06)
  • Everything I wrote in the last ten years that wasn't destroyed. It's a crash course in my life lessons. (1/16/06)
  • One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus. I need something so removed from reality that I can forget for a while. This might be the trick. (1/20/06)
  • Chuck Norris Facts. There is no theory of evolution, just a list of creatures Chuck Norris allows to live. (1/26/06)
  • Chuck Norris Facts. To be or not to be? That is the question. The answer? Chuck Norris. (1/29/06)
  • A letter from the County explaining how all my stuff is gone and it's not their fault. Bitches. (2/1/06)

  • I'm back to One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus. I will finish a book this year, I swear it. (2/3/06)

  • Just finished The Only Girl in the Car by Kathy Dobie. Thumbs down on this one - she spends more time on her halter top than the supposed climax of the book. (3/18/06)
  • How have I never read Fear of Flying? You'd think that would be prime reading material at Converse, but somehow I'm only now discovering it. I'm keeping my expectations low for this "classic" but, a few pages in, I'm not feeling it. (4/8/06)
  • I'm far enough along in A History of the Wife to be getting really mad. (5/12/06)
  • I wish I'd never read The Red Tent, so I could read it again for the first time. Alas, I'm left with imposters, like Sarah by Marek Halter. Mr. Halter, I've read The Red Tent, and you, sir, are no Anita Diamant. (6/16/06)
  • Four Ways to Forgiveness by Ursula K. LeGuin. Not so much for me with the fantasy, but I like LeGuin. (8/20/06)
  • 2006 BBW; Read Banned Books: They're Your Ticket to FreedomBanned books. As many as I possibly can. (9/25/06)
