Initial Evaluation

The initial visit is 75 minutes in length. This session is devoted greatly to information gathering and lays the foundation for the subsequent sessions. We will discuss your health and diet history, purpose for seeking counseling and expectations. You will leave the session with a greater understanding of yourself and how you will achieve your goals with great motivation.

Strategy Education

The strategy education visit is 60 minutes long. During this session we will go over the meal plan or “blueprint” that was specifically formulated for you in order to reach your goals taking into account your current lifestyle as well as your health and diet history. You will leave the session with information on how to eat that supports your goal and why it is important to your success. You will also learn how to choose foods that aren’t included in the meal plan. At the end of the session we will discuss the length and frequency of follow-up sessions determined by your specific needs.

Follow-Up Sessions

The length of the follow-up session is determined at the time the appointment is made and is between 30-60 minutes in length. During follow-up sessions we will discuss how you have progressed since the last appointment. This depends largely on your history and personal patterns of behaviors and the goals we have set forth. During follow-ups I will go over whatever questions you have, obstacles you faced and barriers that you foresee until we meet next. Some topics that are to be covered include, eating at restaurants, recipe modification, behavioral modification techniques and cognitive therapy practices. Keeping in mind that the cornerstone of my nutrition counseling practice is individualization, what is covered during follow-ups is up to you, the client.

Frequency of Sessions

The frequency of our sessions together will be determined at the first session and is dependent upon the goal. However, it is an ongoing process and we will determine together if we should meet more or less often. As a registered dietitian it is always my goal to educate. I empower you to make changes and always want you to know that you can depend on me while giving you the confidence and the tools to not have to feel dependent on me. So I am more than happy to see a client decrease the frequency of sessions at the appropriate time ensuring that the client is able to sustain progress and get to their goals.

Appointment Policy

The appointment policies below have been implemented and developed inconsideration to the clients served. They have been put into effect to ensure consistency of and optimum care, availability of time and consideration to all. Appointments start on time. If you are late to the session, it holds up the next session. Therefore, you will be given up to the time that the next person is scheduled and the charge for the full visit will be charged.

Payment Policy

Payment for service is due on the day of service by cash or check unless otherwise discussed.
Payment for nutrition counseling visits includes communication with Lauren and other members of the treatment team as well as reasonable phone communication outside of the session with Lauren at no extra charge. Extensive phone communication or emails that replace follow-up care, whether scheduled or unscheduled, will be billed at 15 minute increments

Cancellation Policy
Appointments are reservations of Lauren’s time, keeping other clients from reserving that time. Therefore, if cancellations are not made with at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment, you will be charged for the session.
