Last week's Youth Camp-Out, July 11-14 was filled with lots of activities, lessons & prayer! Thanks to those who invited all to their homes for special events! First stop on Monday - The 937 Ministries Food Pantry near Hillsboro. The group help unload donated items and put them on the shelves! The pantry volunteers were so busy, they had no time to do this! The Balsley's on Monday afternoon: Decorating Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, outdoor games, and making pizzas using iron pie-makers over the fire! The Smith's on Tuesday: Swimming in their pool, some hair-styling by Wendy & Ashley, hamburgers & hot dogs for dinner, and outdoor games! The Hiatt's on Wednesday: Making kid-sized tie-dyed t-shirts and other items for the Shoeboxes (fishing kits, ornaments, etc.), learning about car maintenance from Dick & Jacob, not to mention parallel parking lessons, followed by a delicious lasagna & salad dinner. Dessert was crock-pot chocolate cake and making peach cobbler over the fire using iron pie-makers! Stayed at camp on the final day, Thursday: Fishing at the pond in the morning and after lunch, then each youth and leader made his/her tie-died t-shirts provided by Ashley. Sunday, February 13 during worship, Travis and Erin Brubaker, Servants in Fellowship missionaries to Haiti, spoke about their recent service in Haiti and their experiences there. During the 2020 Covid quarantine, and since, teams were not sent, so they found a way to utilize their guest house in other ways to serve God and the Haitian people. The video Erin created captured all the opportunities to do that and more. The video is part of the service and you may watch it through this website under Worship Services tab.
After worship, the Brubaker family (Travis, Erin, & children, Noah, Eloise, Fitsum and Youneysie) were guests at a luncheon organized by Kim Hiatt, Jodie Van Winkle, & Julie Stauffer, & food donated by many in the congregation.

Please support the Brubakers when they return to Haiti to resume God's work. You may donate at the following link (copy & paste in your browser):ck to add an engaging title. High quality images go a long way in looking professional online.

Not a very pretty day for dedicating 221 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, but the gift each child will receive reflects God’s Sonshine packed with love in every box.

ITEMS NEEDED FOR YOUTH CAMP

Just a reminder that our youth will be having a special local camp this year from June 29-July 2. Rick & Sue Priest have graciously offered the back of their property for a secluded area to enjoy the great outdoors. Amber Foster & Kim Hiatt have come up with a list of food items needed for the week.  A tub will be available on the kitchen counter for donated items. If you have something that needs refrigerated, go ahead and put it in the fridge in the basement. Kim will have a poster available with sticky notes of items that are needed by Sunday, June 20. When you take a sticky note, please write down your name & the item on the tablet, left on the table. Don’t hesitate to talk to Amber or Kim about this if you have questions.

Items needed will include; Breakfast cereal, granola bars, pop-tarts (brown sugar & strawberry), individual yogurts, peanut butter, grape jelly, mustard, mayonnaise, supplies for s’mores (graham crackers, chocolate bars, large marshmallows), assorted chips (individual bags - mixed variety pack- usually 18/box), powdered lemonade and Kool-Aid (tropical punch & orange), bread, buns, milk, orange juice, paper towels, Styrofoam plates, plastic forks & spoons.

Please look for the poster board with a complete list, along with sticky notes. If it’s easier to donate money, that is fine, too. As always, we appreciate your willingness to help!

Photograph from today's LUMC Ladies' Day Out Potting Party at Moore's Garden Center, Antioch Road, New Vienna, OH. It was an absolutely perfect day for this - what a joy to see all the beautiful floral colors and greens! When each was finished choosing & potting her plants, all drove to Lydia Duncan's beautiful new home for a fresh greens salad, an over-the-top hot lunch, home-made dinner rolls, 3 amazing desserts & beverages! Kim Hiatt treated everyone to stories about the history of aprons and a timeless story written years ago by Erma Bombeck about a mother's love. Thank you Kim Hiatt, Twana Zimmerman & Lydia Duncan for planning such an uplifting event! Such a blessing for all!

Photos from the

Shrove Tuesday Free All-You-Can Eat

Pancakes & Sausage Dinner

Community Outreach

February 25, 2020

Last evening, February 23, we were truly blessed to have with us Yusuf Herman, a missionary who has been traveling the world for many years sharing Christ, and his friend, Dominggus. Dominggus spoke in his native language, while Yusuf translated. His testimony was extremely powerful. When he was 18, his college was attacked by Islamic radicals. When they gave Dominggus a choice - either deny Christ and die, or accept Islam and live - he chose Christ. Dominggus then received a severe blow to the neck, in addition to other injuries, and was not expected to live. He felt himself leave his body and was able to look down upon it. He then saw visions of angels leading him to magnificent rooms in heaven. Dominggus was told by the angels that he needed to return to his body. He was miraculously healed, so he would live to testify and witness so people would be saved. We viewed an actual news video from the aftermath of the attack which showed Dominggus and many others, lying wounded on the ground. We prayed over Yusuf & Dominggus before they continued on their separate journeys to spread the Good News.
