CMS Review

Basic CMS and Blogs

http://www.trellix.com/ (now is web.com) -- very interesting CMS (end-user oriented, components (GEMS), etc)
http://www.psoft.net/SS/previewer/ - site studio -- wizard like site creating software, very limited functions, ugly templates, etc.
http://www.cityslide.com (http://www.citymax.com) - tons of features, don't have full control over the content, expensive ($20/m)
http://www.homestead.com - expensive, very limited in what you can do.

http://www.theinternetsolution.com/ - a lot of nice features, store integration, dynamic image + flash, bad RTE, links must be typed.
http://www.sitegalore.com/ - nice tool with imagen-like image editor, tons of features, limited control over the content.
http://www.websitewizard.com/ - a lot of features (surveys, e-commerce, mailing lists, etc) -- bad polish quality.
http://www.onlinesitecreator.net/ - has shop creator, form builder and tons of ugly designs (indian)
http://www.nextsense.com/ - macedonian web content editor (ASP based), used to build sites like www.onnet.com.mk
http://www.verisignwebsites.com/ -- bad and expensive (versign, old image cafe)
http://www.yourcms.com/ - CSM - the RTE looks bad, but have few nice features (set publishing dates, etc)
http://www.blogger.com/ -- Simple web publishing system
http://cm4all.com - basic site builder with a lot of (ugly) templates, separated by categories.

http://www.interspire.com/ - looks like a FP, but web based.
http://www.plone.org/ - open source CMS, language modules, etc (zope-based)..

http://www.irun.com - simmilar to SK, option to change design, simple RTE, ebay integration, polls, mailing lists, etc.

http://sitekit.net/ - just another UK-based

http://www.redtechnology.com/ - it has form builder
http://www.besavvy.com - nice CMS with RTE, per-page templtes, etc (expensive)
http://www.movabletype.org - php based CMS (typepad is based on it).
http://wordpress.org simple but very nice publishing system without RTE, but support access levels, change control, blogging, etc (PHP/mysql based)

http://squarespace.com - nice and simple CMS. Good help.

http://www.plainblack.com/ - WebGUI - nice CMS, fancy drag-drop of content chunks around the page, ugly editor.
http://moonfruit.com/ - fully flash based CMS with few nice features (but in general very limited). No control over the consistancy on the content what so ever.

http://neo-cms.be - nice CMS with inline RTE, drag-drop menu editor, Template editor, Breadcrumbs, Workflow, history of all edits with option to roll-back
http://pages.google.com - the google page builder -- very basic, no consistent layout (each page can have it's own design), missing concept for navigation, iteractivity, etc.

Most common disadvantages of these products are:

  1. Not professional and customizable templates (templates are cookie-cutting)
  2. the user don't have full control over the content (pre-defined pages, etc)
  3. missing dynamic images for nice-looking menus, titles, etc
  4. no control over the links/images (user can create broken links/images/etc)
  5. no consistent control over the style of the site (users can create inconsistent pages within one web sites)
  6. not a scalable solution
