1. What is the Parent: Child Ration?

8:2

2 Adults run the child care, FT. Myself and my husband. I am the main provider, he is the Homeschooler for our 2 children and my house cleaner/errand runner/back-up care provider.

2.  What is the average number of Adults in the home?

Two, I am the main care provider, providing the daily care of each child. My husband, Mr. Joe can care for the children if needed, he is on my license. Parents will be notified as soon as possible if he is to be left with the children alone, extremely rare.

3.  Who is going to care for my child?

I am the main care provider, my husband's duties are to assit our two school agers with school and help with other business, personal aspects.

4.  Will Joe (my husband) ever be left at home, alone, with the children?

Yes, there will be occasions when Joe will be left alone with a minimum amount of children according to licensing standards. I will however notify all parents in advance, if possible, when this will happen.

5.  What are the  qualifications of the adults caring for the childcare children?

Both my husband and I have: CPR and First Aid, TB test, Background Checks and we both do continuing education in regards to childcare (please see my qualifications question below).

We also have a back-up provider, Mrs. Amy who can assist with the child care if needed. She has been ok'd by licensing and meets all above qualifications.

6. What is your experience and education?

Mine - I have worked in a public preschool program. I have also been doing child care for 14+ years as an adult. Most of my child care experience is through the nursing field, as a home health care aid, caring for developmentally disabled children in their home. I have also been doing in-home child care for 5 years, in my home. I am also continuing my education as a Early Childhood Educator.

Joe- Has worked also with Developmentally disabled adults, and children. He also has experience as a professional cook working at Hewlett Packard .  Joe has also assisted me in the childcare for 4 years, total. Joe has taken 'serve safe' classes for proper food handling. Joe is also the Father of our children :), ages 13 and 8 years.

7. How do I check on your license?

Simply by calling Community Care Licensing at 916-875-2808. My license number is:SAC 60336 FCCH

8. How do you make sure the children are educated?

I have also been taking classes with Child Action, UC Davis, and the Quality Childcare Collaboration.  They offer free classes to parents and providers on child care and behaviors and the like.  I also have mentors that have been doing this for 37 + years. I have several providers that I network with and I also use a professional curriculum that is put together by a Master Teacher and 2 Teacher Associates.

9. Do you supply meals and snacks? Are they healthy?

Yes and yes!  I am part of a food program. The food program allows me to feed the children I care for and get a portion of the cost returned to me. As part of the food program I am required to feed the children a balanced diet. They also come and 'evaluate' my food program in the childcare without announcement every 3 months.

10. Do you have any animals?

Yes. I have 2 toy poodles (very small dog). They are  kept current on all immunizations (licensing regulation). They are very friendly and love the children. We have just recieved an orphaned cat, he stays in my daughters room during daycare hours, he is fully immunized. We have a hamster, he is boring, sleeps all day, 2 turtles that the children love to watch. -- we also 'raise' butterflies every year, feed the birds in the backyard, and watch the squirrels (does this count?).

11. Is smoking allowed in the childcare home?

Smoking in/near the daycare home is strictly PROHIBITED! I ask that all parents refrain from smoking near the day care home and save this for before they pick up/drop off their child.

12. How does Drop-in care work?

Drop-in spots are on a first come first served basis. Just call and see if I have the opening. I suggest you call as soon as possible.

13. What is the 'interview' process?

I have a phone interview which is simple questions to make sure I am able to assist you in your child care needs, this takes only a few minutes. Then if you and I decide to go further then I do a in-home interview. This takes about 1-2 hours. During this process we go over some key points. I show you my home, where your child will be playing, where they take a nap, where they eat and where we do our schooling. I also go over my program for the preschool.  We also go over any questions you might have or I might have. Then you can decide if you like what you see and if we are a good fit. I can also meet your child and see if I can meet your needs.

+ Your child is required to be here for the interview+

14.  Do you Transport any children?

Currently I do not transport the preschoolers, we do however have a field trip day here and there, with a months notice to all families. All families are welcome to join us in the fun :)
