Artist's statement:

I am at my most content when I have pencil, paper and quiet to draw and colour. My life is usually chaotic and noisy so that the time   I have for art becomes a  haven of peace in an otherwise disorganised existence. By nature I am impulsive and find it difficult to be restricted by time-tables , and yet there is a part of me needing  to be in control, and to be controlled, to create and be part of an ordered universe. Drawing allows me to feel that I am in control. I put marks on paper and they stay there. I am forced to be patient and to take time rather than rushing, thereby imposing some kind of organisation on the chaos of my life.

I am totally self taught. The only formal training I ever had were the far distant art lessons at school. Creating art has taken me on a  journey of discovery where I have learnt to look,  to see, to enjoy the beauty around me, be it a landscape, the glory of a flower or the beauty in the banality of  familiar, ordinary objects and scenes. Colour has exploded into my existence with all it's nuances and magic. I am not trying to make any statements with my art; for me, my art is my attempt to capture what I see around me, to capture a moment in time and to make my own personal mark.

I hope you enjoy looking at my art work.
