About the artist....
Kat Johnston graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester in 2001 with her BS in studio art, minor in psych.
Portrait show at High Falls Gallery in Rochester featured two paintings done on glass in 2002. A/V gallery displayed an instillation piece for a Day of the Dead. Big Art show is a local art collective that she joined in 2006 and participated in showing work a various locations including the Rotunda, Lazertown, GLAM and several others. Kat completed a Master's in Art Therapy from Drexel in 2006.
Recent works include the collages and mixed media pieces, exploring variety of surfaces besides canvas, such as glass, metal trays (like rusted cookie sheets, tv dinner trays), and fabric pieces. The "oils on fabric" abstract paintings are the newest work and were shown at Studio 34, in University City, Feb 2009, for the Fun-A-Day show. 31 pieces for each day in the month of January- Here are a couple of photo of the opening....
